It is more often painful taking our valuable time. Always they say to contact our branch and when you go to branch they will tell you contact fone banking. Even in this modern era they authenticate to the hilt but still requires a written memo for effecting a change or accede to our request.
Phone banking doesnt help especially when it comes to enquiring about the status of a particular transaction or service applied for. I have an account with UTI Bank and I find their phone banking services of no use. At the end they tell me I will have to go to my bank personally and get the work done!
Its not just nationalised banks but even so-called foreign banks lile Standard Chartered,Citibank,HSBC etc make you run from one call centre executive to another, who keep giving you oral "assurances" that things will be done.(the std phrase is "I assure you madam/sir....everytime someone parrots that I can feel my bile rising). Except that things are never done, not without at least 5-6 calls each time to a different person, until you are ready to explode and open an account with a nationalised bank. And they charge the earth for even simple services. At one of these foreign banks a Payable at par chequebook with 25 leaves costs Rs.375, and a debit card is charged Rs.100/yr for maintenance. What maintenance?!
With nationalised banks,at least you dont expect any great service and you know you will have to run around.

well no matter banks are national or multi-national, it ends up in the hands of Indians so are their quality of service. i really when Indian's gonna be really efficient at what they do rather than glorying their art of rote knowledge(mostly) which is greatly reflected by the service sector in India. Our education only teaches us what to think, not how to think.
This a comedy show, whenever we try for simple problem, we need to listen atleast 20 mins to reach customer care officer, some time we need to listen the advertisement ( Standard charted bank). even reach customer care officer the told they will come back , simply tell " THEY ARE DOING COMEDY SHOW WITH CUSTOMERS PHONE BILL"

Yes its true I`m facing this problem with HDFC bank for past few week.In roaming due to urgent need I have to call and get high bill but always no positive response from them. They will ask you to get in touch with Branch where I hold the account and at branch they give a phone no it keeps on goiing for past 10 days even customer service help line or mail does not serve any purpose.HDFC is lousy in that sense.
Phone Banking is just another nonsense service like other so called Services offered by these MNC Banks. It is useless and utter waste of time. I have account in HDFC and Citibank(not by choice) and for all the issues faced tii date, i had to go to the Bank in person to get that clarified. All my effort and time through Phone Banking proved Waste. So i would request those ppl sitting in the supervisory or management to boot your executives attending the phone calls atleast twice or thrice before paying them for thier inefficient services. I feel that it is not only good english that is required for Service Oriented Jobs but also a service driven mind. So ppl without the later one , please look out for some other job like robbing, begging etc which is ideal. Please note : I am not pointing this msg to the entire Service Fraternity, it is only towards some fools who have come into this noble and prestigeous job by mistake.
Not just phone banking alone, even talking to mobile companies for solving complaints over phone is equally frustrating. Most of them do not know a lot of procedures and just do the sweet talking.
The UBI call center people are the most immature and un professional, and the Bank Managers are even worst. I am trying to get a new PIN for my debit card for the last month, still no luck. I guess it was my fault that i opened an account there.
hdfc bank phone banking is such a mess... i have almost tried now 5-6 times for same problem... and its comes back to square one after all the talk.i suppose its indian babudom mentality which has crept in hdfc also.
Banks LIke ICICI are fooling people by saying they have phone banking but the truth is in case of credit cards the phone banking is just about fooling people . The executives are even unaware about what they are doing and what they got to do.!
