Though they recognise our degrees, they are ahead of us in Syllabus, Teaching & Assessment methods, skills and attitudes.Unless, Indian universities concentrate of using alternative teaching & Evaluation methods, signing washington accord has no meaning. Prof.Ravi Sankar Chandu, Malaysia
Cost of education, Visa aquiring charge, protection of individual till that person grows (Army, Police, pulbic health...etc) of Indias. Benefit, to the US. What a love of Mother Contry. US, get people with high qalification, and thier visa charges for free, simply by saying that they are the best country in the world. (Third world contry fools take it as the greatest honor to do slave work in US rather than improving mother countries - Then they will call themselves Proud Indians.)Joy

its not merit is encouraged but real thing is 1$=40rs today..that difference makes people go there so even if they save 1000$ per month its almost salary in india......

why 1$ = Rs.40 is because their economy is much stronger, and why their economy is stronger is because of R & D and innovation, and why R & D and innovation is advanced is because of.....MERIT !!!

Economy is not only on R & D but on all other factors like farm produce, industrial produce,etc...if 1$= 40 rs only on merit can you give explaination for Arab countries who milking money due to their oil advantage...

if you look at history you will get to know why economy is strong as usa is located far from europe and asia it was not part of second world war so as all other countries suffer from ar they were out and safe so they can improve on what was built all in other world started from scratch.....if you see statistics 70% of american institutes not look for merit but they take people from other countries for fees not for merit ......so most of people who dont get admission here and have money study there...
Indian Education is better not bad if compared to other countries proof is that we have so many youths in India who passed out from these colleges have better knowledge and companies around the world looking for Indian talents this it self is proof so i don't think US or any other country need to give us a certificate for Indian education standards.

the under graduate education system is really good in india. perhaps the best in the world. its at the Mtech and doctorate level that the indian system fails. the labs are not well equipped and the research they do is rarely groundbreaking. There is only one institute in India where the Phd program is rated highly -thats IISc Bangalore. Even IITS dont have a good Phd program. This is the main reason for people going abroad. The institutes are not ready to invest a lot on a single Phd student

There are government engineering colleges in the country where profession picks up a thread made up of coarse rag and say,"suppose this is a wire", becuase the college does'nt have a real wire to show the students, forget about other facilities.
Central/State goernments may be funding for purchases, but who does'nt know where the bulk of that money is going?

Very nice max thanks for writting this massege. i am agree with you. keep it up...
To the knowledge of all, the washington accord has no teeth to force all 50 states in USA to accept degrees from foreign countries. Like California does not accept degrees from member countries of Washington accord. Hence I would suggest Kamal Kant Dwivedi, counselor at the Indian Embassy not to misguide Indian youth about this development.
if they are meritorious they will succeed in america whether they have a degree or not (bill gates), else if they are mediocre they will have to wash dishes.

Iyer, i strongly object to pple using community names on the forums. Gulti is not a right word to use on telugu speaking pple. I am saying this despite being a non telegite. Its equivalent to using words like 'paki', 'nigger' , 'sambars' etc.. we shud stop using words which can be found offensive to others here. There are fake degress for a very long time and perhaps many come from Hyd. But it dosent warranty the use of such words in forums.

Hello Mr Adapavi (In your mother tongue), Cant you just live with out talking about the religion, caste or region? Shame on you to drag peoples region into every thing.
"Dr Acharya who quit the AICTE on June 30 had been uncomfortable on the hot seat all his tenure because the Minister for Human Resource Development Mr Arjun Singh favoured the vice-chairman, Dr R A Yadav, who, invariably, showed more guts and gusto in administration."
US is an economic leader and hence its educational institutions are the best in the world. But students coming of IIT and other engnn colleges in India are more intelligent than their counterparts in the US. Its only fair that our engineering colleges are recognized on par with the rest of the world. If there were no Indians or Chinese the American universities will have very little students. I agree there is corruption and inequality in India and we can learn from Americans in many areas. Please also understand that American economy is largely dependant on highly skilled Indian and Chinese students (most of them do their UG in their respective countries). There is a huge shortage of skilled workers in US and thats why they have increased the H1 limit to 100,000 now and increase with each passing year. Now American companies have opened up all over India to tap the trained Indian engineers. US will eventually loose its edge in technology. So many R&D labs in India now and together with manufacturing Hub China its going to be an Asian century. There are millions who are still poor and illeterate in India but it will slowly change. I hate NRI's who bash everything about India. Wake up to know u r loosing out to ur brothers in India. Better start packing ur bags n try to re-locate. Coz ur kids will not have a job there after 20 yrs. They can only work in retail n stock market. Perhaps lawyers who will sue $ millions for lost coats n undies ha ha ha

Chinese are highly skilled or not - that can be decided by looking at Singapore - interesting ..look at the planning and execution aspect or see these people doing daily chores like testing with discipline..u might change ur mind. skill is something - being from a country is something else "lah"

I agree with u that US was the world power even in 1945 but can you deny the fact that majority of employees in the silicon valley are migrants. There is a huge asian (indian) community there working in Hi-tech companies. US Universities and Companies depend more on Indians than we Indians depend on them now. Look at your neighbour and see how many American kids do engineering there. They drop of our high school in their teens n take part time jobs. Slowly they get into some management course in the companies and are trained. But how many study science?
I, a Civil Engineer by profession, have been in Hong Kong since the past 4 months and been unsuccessful in finding a job - just because Indian degrees seem to have no recognition here. This inspite of having worked for more than 10 years in a large US Multinational & having worked on their behalf in UK & gULF! Hope things improve now.
