There is little doubt that Capt Gopinath has inadvertently pioneered the "air farce" in which India has an undisputed lead worldwide at present. It may dubiously remain that way for a long time. Now it is up to other players and especially the Civil Aviation Ministry to convert that lead into a durable one in "low cost" aviation. Otherwise, as usual, China will take over. We have only a few years to get our act together. Unfortunately, our Civil Aviation Minister is not at all interested in the goal of genuinely low cost aviation.
Capt.Gopi's dream meight have been pushed under the boot for a time being, but low cost air travel is still a viable option and there will be lot of Gopi's taking up the challang now.
Like a true army man Capt.Gopi had sacrificed his personal ego for the company/team. There is a lot to learn from this leader.
If prises go up and are not as it was earlier then the people who use to fly will go back to trains again. WIth this merger people of India have not benefited. It is no more a customer friendly airlines. Now the fares are generally very high and also after Mallya Joining many routes have been discontinued causing problems for middle class and the ordinary. If Mallya wants to rule the skys of India or the World he should have taken over the third class Indian Airlies and improved the standard of service with lower fares etc why has he joined Decccan. It is found of late that many sectors have been discontinued after Mallya joining Deccan. This is not a good sign. Gopinath should be given free hands who is really customer friendly and if it all it had finance problems it should have joined with INDIGO which is also a customer friendly airlines and also is very prompt in timing better than Kingfisher and Jet. Mallya go out and Gopinath should join Indigo in his team
There is no doubt that Capt. Gopinath is a pioneer . He has been one of the key drivers of our aviation industry to see it where it has reached. But, that is all the past...Big Business like Mallay's have a single mandate. Profits and super ones too. Our country is slowly moving towards a capitalistic model. So lets say cheers to our dear Captain for if we one man like him for every industry in our country, wow, that would create a mini revolution by itself.
Capt Gopinath needs to be more than congratulated for bringing the airlines within the reach of the common man. Posterity will remember him for doing just that. He has been to the airlines industry a great revolutionary
I thnk this guy for whatever he has done to indian aviation industry. Few years back who could think that airfares would fall so low and even common man could think of flying through air.

Yes Gopinath did wonders with his Vision. But accummulated losses made him take Mallya on board without realising what ws in store. In the past Mallya has taken over good Companies and gobbled up the Equity. Examples Best&Crompton, UB Petro, etc. [these Companies have totally vanished off the Share Market!]
hats off you made a low income groups, hopes to fly high to realise in true sense. Despite the operational difficulties you encountered, you made them frequent fliers. NOW THEIR DREAMS GO AWRY. MAY GOD GIVE YOU NECESSARY STRENGTH TO FLY AFRESH WITH YOUR FINANCIALLY VIABLE OPTIONS
Along with departure of AirDeccan, gone are the days for common people to fly. The minimum flying cost is Rs. 2525. KF may be good at service n all, but in no ways it is economical.
I take this opportunity to congratulate Capt. Gopinath of atleast having a visiion for common men, unlike Indian Government and other so called effective airlines, you had a goal in mind and you did serve the clients to fullest.
