There is little doubt that Capt Gopinath has inadvertently pioneered the "air farce" in which India has an undisputed lead worldwide at present. It may dubiously remain that way for a long time. Now it is up to other players and especially the Civil Aviation Ministry to convert that lead into a durable one in "low cost" aviation. Otherwise, as usual, China will take over. We have only a few years to get our act together. Unfortunately, our Civil Aviation Minister is not at all interested in the goal of genuinely low cost aviation.
