Its shame that they haven't considered to use Solar panels, windmills etc in their buildings to make it Green. India has to learn to be self-sufficient in its use of energy. The way forward should be that the mighty IT giants like Infosys and other multinationals in India should use of renewable energy resources and recycling their waste.

So what does he have as a vision for this country that he does not believe such building is here in India? Moronic dirty dumb idiots... Dont know if they even make an attempt to think before they utter such nonsense...

In no context that moron has the right to demean this country... Especially when he is ruling it... Why is he having such inferior opinion of this country?

such sort of statements in any context are a matter of shame.dream girl ur absolutely right this is not first time he did it in fact I think even in Britain also once h told them what ever best we have is ur contribution only.even manmohan sigh also said something of the same sort before British I think
It looks fine to feel proud in having such a marvellous facility in India. But I have a question, when the business is Software, why is there a need to have so many grounds and courts for different sports(I can understand library/leadership institute but sports facility). If the intention is to give it to potential/budding sports people at a even a very reasonable and affordable cost for traning, thereby helping India to have top performers in sports, I can appreciate that. But if it is for the employees to recreate for a brief time during work (amateurs using for timepass and which the professionals long for but don't get thro' respective sports associations), does it need world-class sports facility at such a cost on a land given by the govt. at a subsidised rate for their core business. I doubt software professionals with thier kind of overseas client focussed work nature can take become sportsmen by taking time off their work intermittently. This just came to my mind, no prejudices towards Infy.

if you are looking for charity then ask for it to government of india not to the corporations. Corporations care about their employees and providing such facilities increases employee loyalty and it show the company is not treating its employees like slaves. May be you should be spending your time encouraging any sportsman that you know of instead of trying to discourage corporations from doing good things.

I partly agree wid u dude! Companies certainly do not exist for charity purposes. But then, don't u think that this concept is a 2-way street??? I mean, if u don't believe in GIVING charity, then you have ABSOLUTELY no business ASKING for charity. If companies don't want to get into the ugly job of encouraging sports in India, that's perfectly alright. But then, they should certainly not ask for free or cheap land, cheap power, tax breaks & other such freebies from the Government. Doesn't asking for all this amount to begging/charity???? By all means, provide sports facilities for your employees - no one has any business questioning that - but not on free/cheap land given by the Government. If these companies & their promoters have self-respect, let them purchase the land at the market price, ask for no freebies and then let them construct watever they want on that land, for their valuable employees(even a brand new TajMahal, if they so wish!)

Hey, Just to set things and concepptions right, I underwent training at the same campus an year ago and trust me there can be nothing better than the facilities available there to unwind after the hectic day. If we think that people can not make use of the facilities due to work pressure, then better be informed. Infosys has one of the best teams in outdoor/indoor sports as compared to any IT company. Infy mysore campus simply put.........ROCKS!!!

Ananda Raghava, the idea behind so many sporting facilities on the Infosys campus is not to generate Sachin Tendulkars, Bhagawat Chandrasekars or a Dhanaraj Pillai or a Vishwanathan Anand. All these facilities are there to enable the over-worked software minds to relax. R E L A X, see the word sounds so much soothing. All work and no play makes Jack a dumb ass, right.

"Overworked software minds" is an oxymoron... Those words do not gel well... All play and no work would not anyway make a dumb ass into Jack...

Well, Dream Girl, that's why the IT companies are trying to mix work and play. What is your problem? There has to be some play with all the hard work that IT workers do. Otherwise they would just be working on machines like robots.

What you echoed is the attitude difference of the west vs east.
The problem (fortunate or unfortunate) about IT and other related area is that they are purely human resource oriented. And the quality of human resource do matter. One of the reason why US was able to achieve mammoth development during early part of 20th century was that it provided an environment conducive (physical as well as intellectually) for their citizens and prospective immigrants. For example have a look at the geniuses Institute of Advance Studies, Princeton was able to add to its pay roll pre-WII era (http://www.ias.edu/about/noted-figures). I agree, I might be taking an extreme example. But my point is, for India to progress well it has to invest a lot in it's human resource and potential talent. We are abundant in human resource, but pretty scare in most others (land, oil, gold - which the major developed nations have aplenty). While India being a super-power really is a tall order, the only way to come close to achieve that will be to transmogrify our economy into a knowledge hub (akin to the dream of our former president). And it is rather naive and unrealistic to achieve we would have quality work force (worth boosting) sticking around unless you pamper them. This however is not limited to IT (extends to other areas of science and arts). However, IT have momentum, that need to capitalised.

Some people will never stop cribbing! You cant help it, it is their habbit. If we are not world class, then it is a hopeless case, They will say in India it is difficult to do anything,... Now that Indian Cos are able to stand tall and be proud of such progress, still they will have reasons to cry.

Instead of commenting about "Many people not able to have single meal a day etc", My dear friend, have you done anything in that regard. We should feel proud as a Bangalorean, Karnatakite & an Indian to have this appreciation when one of our campuses have been looked at on the International level.Leave your stupid thoughts & feel proud to be in India.

My dear Freind we are proud to have corrupt Government, Corrupt and non functional Judiciary system, Corrupt Beaureucrats, Farmers dying in Andhra pradesh, Maharashtra and other states, The largest population of beggers, dirty cities, useless government, childrens dying from malnutrition. If you need few more reasons to be proud then you can be proud but you will be called as arrogant. Their is no pride in this kind of acheivement. Kindly look into the reality since you cant run away rom them. I think its a waste of time, money and Energy whcih could have been utilised on better things.

Hi dear, I am a very small man but whatever is possible by means of Training the Youths to setup their own factory and venturing in the new areas of application, I am doing it. I also work for nature conservation, we three of us planted 2000 saplings but when we went to plant them in the National Park we were told not to do so, I guess the same saplings must have been sold in the open market by them. any way I got my voter ID three years back and since then I have voted once. Dear Freind I am not blaming government just like that I have worked for central government for few years, hence I know the situations prevailing in the Govt. Org. Real honest people cant survive their. . If we do not raise our voices this place will become hell. . I donate 10 % of my income everyyear. and help people through free consultations.
What is the motivation of this story ? Why now ? Of several things this centre is a triumph of corporate land grab at throwaway price over farmers who were using lands to make a living.

Its a dream, a dream of a person. He worked hard very hard to get INFY to this position. You can quote many things like he has not helped poor, he has not provided any facilites for the poor. Its wrong, he thinks in a different way. Mr. Narayanamurthy and Infy has done lot of social acitivities too. He had brought of the India's reputation. He has provided an oppertunity for today youth to prove their skills. He is the person who has brought the Software industry to India.
Hatsoff to Narayana Murthy... A brain that enabled many brains...

"Brought the Software Industry to India"???? Go and search for the History of TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES and PATNI COMPUTERS.
The fact is that there is no hard work, its all about being part of the production chain of the Global Economy. Why is that INFY's profits are getting down when Dollar value is getting down??? Understood? Its because of just outsourcing...today India...tomorrow it could be China or African Countries...Business in services sector can be good as long as rupee is weak, so its time these companies concentrate on Products and R&D

It has nothing to do with the dream of a person. Its purely the oppertunigy grabbed, due to outsourcing of low skilled and repetative jobs to indian people. and indians have a tendancy that they will use the waste from the West Countries and term them as Imported. ha. ha. change your definitions.
