Before making any comments abt the survey judgement conducted by Hewitt. I guess u all shd go through the survey criterion (guidelines)..Please refer to the link www.bestemployersasia.com This survey is not only being conducted in India but it has been done at a Asia regional level being a Indian we should be proud on the fact that 4 Indian companies are in the list of Top 20 companies in Asia region.
I know incidents where survey conducted by big- one of the most popular business magazine's rigged without any mercy. It was only money that decided the survey results - this is my personal experience!
Hewitt associates is actively participating in ranking corporate india. First he should prove his credetials to corporate india whether he is worh enough to rank corporate india. He has every right to classify a employer as a good employer or best employer. Definately he has no right to classify/rank in order the employers list. It will be follishness to accept these kinds of surveys by employees of corporate india. Every employer is a good employer with a condition that there can be better employers. I stronly disagree with these rankings. These rankings are false. Dear employees please dont get trapped by these kinds of dirty surveys.

I worked in Rank#1 Aditya Birla Group and non ranked Reliance Industries Ltd. Birla is the best company. Once you will work in RIL (RELIANCE) at Hazira, Surat or at Jamnagar (both in Gujarat) then only you will realize that what is Reliance? In short I can say that since last 3 years, approx. 300 employees per year are quiting Reliance Jamnagar only due to......... (common sense to understand). This is not a "Reply's Believe it or not" but a reality which can be confirmed by any employee of jamnagar.
Best company in india to work with is Infosys ,i wonder how they have been ignored. There are at least 100 better companies than what is listed by hewitt associates as best employers. Definately we can acknowledge the selection of these companies as good employers to work with but certainly not as best employers. This is a corporate gimmicks followed by management and selections consultants like hewitt associates. All the employees of india should be careful in understanding these kinds of corporate gimmicks.
People try to realize their ambitions at their work place. That is through their job. A human being needs a soceity because otherwise there would not be a place to realise one's dreams and ambitions, desires and finally self-realization. That is the reason some employees do not leave an organisation even when higher salries are offered by some other company. They would say old devil is better than unknown angel. And they would mostly compare their wives with an unknown beauty they encounter. The point is job satisfaction is all the more important. The job satisfaction comes in to picture only when you employ brilliant and creative employees. That is the key. What type of employees the organisation has recruited and working with ? The organistaion may be using some stupids and dumb heads to recruit some more employees who may be their replicas. So, any creative guy who wants to put his creative ideas feels stifled and would get out of the organisation even when if it meant low salary. It always happens. And it is mostly likely that you would see very low attrition rate in such stupid oranisations where stupids only have a wonderful positions. It is more or less a fool's paradise, where dumb heads rule to the roost. For example in many Govt. organisations attritions rates are almost nill. It does not mean that there is great job satisfaction in Govt.offices. I have faced innumerable interviews and worked in a dozen companies. In my experience , I found that recruitments hold the key for a good and successful organisation. It is amazing to see headstrong, extremely stupid guys sitting in the interview board in some of those so called MNC's!! The organisation's success in business in these cases are mostly because the product sells better by itself rather than because of its employees !! for example Oracle software product sells by itself and not because of it's software managers, project mangers or much the less because of its employee recrutiment guys. Any company which cares for its employee's creative spirit, provides avenues for talent, recognises the talent and promotes the talent is the best place to work in my opinion. Many foreign companies have now come to India and accrding to rules they incorporate as a private limited company in India. Most of them indeed have to prove themselves as the best employers. The scene is changing very fast. The high turnover of the employees (attrition rate) is only one of the indicaters. I think the survey is merely an approxiation of the truth , if you try to know the best employer.
Rankings do not matter. What matters is the success of these organisations and where they go from here.
If the people who dispute these rankings are more successful than the organisations they are criticising, it is time to situp and take notice. We should then seriously do something about it.
I have gone through almost every message here and am trying to give you the summary.
1) Hewitt survey wants to get popularity between most educated sections of Indian society, hence to make its brand more reliable between people hence to make more money.
2) Company in the list again want to give virtual confidence to there respected employee hence company stability hence client reliability hence more money. Company got some rank because they have practically implemented there (owned CMM) standard up to 50%.Who knows what they will do next year.........
3) Now, People, we have the habit of attracted by such survey, by such Glamorous companies and off course money. We are writing pros n crones of our company and discussing why or why not my company is not in the list. Have you ever tried to take some action in support of your views ? My friends here everybody is sitting to earn money, hence we are a part of there whole drama. Finally, one suggestion is that look for Job satisfaction, personal satisfaction, future growth, money satisfaction in respected priority. Try to get Job not just Good Banner...

Am not saying survey is incorrect but people like us are correct?
Which reference/survey determines this list? Satisfaction of employees determines the best company and so sampling comes into account.
Respondents can only be those who are quite experienced and have worked more than three companies in his/her tenure to get more refined results (mid level management). An employee who has been working for three years in the same company cant have an idea about other companies > even salary and attrition cant be the main factors.
Now if "X" is a small Indian company having 30 employees, all happy and well nurtured. The cross question is: Will the sampling factors catch it ?
So the question is what are the initial factors/attributes (including weight age) of sampling?
I have worked in four companies....I know my first company was the best and I have proof in support of this.
To creat an "Ad Marketing" companies push these kind of list into news papers and magazine. Good enough but "Janta" is not insane.
Now the ISB (Hyd) is right if it doesnt take part in surveys as they don't believe in these kind of Indian survey's ranking and you know its breaking records every year. Does it need survey ranking now?
Please keep in mind that this is a science not an art.
Can Hewitt tell that why there is no disagreement when India Today publishes the survey about college and universities in June?

You are right. You probably are an expert in sampling. How should the sampling be done for such a survey? Is the current sampling method incorrect? Do share your views. It will enlighten the readers. Cheers to you too!
