Dats not gonna happen, watever our politician and bureaucrats says. The city is in a mess and dats what everyone should realize. Take a look around, see Shanghai, Singapore, and now Dubai. How can Bombay with its Shabby outlook can become a regional Fin Hub?

Mumbai is crap compared to these cities. Forget international comparison, infrastructure wise it is miles behind New Delhi and probably B'lore also. Ive spent years in both Bombay and Delhi so mumbaikars dont feel offended. The truth is hard to swallow.
In the latest study, the highest number of poor live in UP followed by Bihar. But the highest percentage of poor (with respect to th etotal population of the state) live in Maharashtra!!!! Marathis have a wrong notion of their prosperity; Mumbai is not Maharashtra... there are districts like Latur too. They have another wrong notion too that Mumbai pays 40% of taxes to the centre is bullshit. The fact is most of corporate hq of comapnies arein Mumbai. these comanies have factories in Bihar, Orisa, Bengal, UP, Himachal and all over the world. The workers and managers in all those factores are local and all over india. These companies, with their HQ in Mumbai file their tax returns in Mumbai only, as simple as that.
I feel the goverment should steps as converting old builings into ownership. 1.Let say the tenants have to pay say 25% of the area rate which is divided into three parts a)10% to landlord b)10% to goverment c)5% as a deposit for maintance The goverment inturn should give the Landlords the fsi which they have given to the tenants,and all old cases etc be dismissed and resolved under this new process this would lead the govertment to get revenue,old tenant matter resolved,lanlords to have some money and Fsi,a lot of new construction,and courts able to reduce cases. Win Win situation But the Chief Minster has to look at Mumbai than a personal agenda

WRONG .. lemme reiterate for u: 1.99% criminals are MUSLIMS 2.Where do u live brother..Taj Mahal? People who cant afford houses will ofcourse live in slums, be it UP Bihari or "Ghati" 3.If u think mumbai taxi's/auto's tamper the meter then probably u have never travelled outside mumbai. I highly recommed you to move out of ur small world. 4.Paan and Tobacco if sold will be consumed and its the Maharashtra govt who profits from its taxes. And if there are not adequate bins it will be thrown around. Government's fault. 5.I repeat again, 99% criminals are MUSLIMS whether in India or Worldwide. 6.MTNL staff is mostly Ghati and so is the public sector and govt employees. 7.You think everything other than liquor, slums are legal in mumbai? You're a fool. 8.Why doesnt anyone else start producing pure milk? You should do it instead of cribbing. Dont like it dont buy it.
Tax - Going after the poor people for tax is being penny wise pound foolish. Moreover mumbai business runs on black money.

It is ridiculous what you are talking about.It is only politicians who are responsible for the dire state of Mumbai.It is not only Lalu or Mulayam who are scam ridden but other politicians also be it in UP,Bihar ,Maharashtra or any other Indian state.Greed for power has no religion,cast or location.It could be anyone.So pl. think rationally and see how much you are contributing to the prosperity of place where you are living in stead of blaming others for no fault of them.

Rohit You seem to diverge from the topic. We are discussing mumbai not UP & Bihar. And since you call UP a rat hole, though i have lived in Mumbai for 10 yrs its no less a stinking rat hole. And incidently our very own king of Bollywood Amitabh Bacchan happens to be a UP ka bhiyya. So stop being a stereotype. Now since you spoke about Laloo, he has turned the Indian Railways into a highly profitable organisation. His case study was discussed with the students of IIM-A. So my peice of advice to all of you is : Dont be a stereotype and look at the positives rather than the negatives. And at the end of the day be an Indian rather than being a friggin Mumbaikar.

Spot on ! The other 10% are fanatics - who smuggle and blast bombs and kill innocent hard working mumbaikars who have had nothing to do with Gujarat riots or Babri demolitions. God help Mumbai - financial powerhouse will remain a pipe dream. ( Btw, haven't we heard of Bombay being turned into Singapore, Chicago and Shanghai before - as the common man on the street, see any difference ? I do - that powercuts are going to happen this summer onwards ).

Put special permit to do business in Mumbai...every one do legal..atleast in Mumabi..otherwise..foreigners will afraid to do large scale business here in Mumbai..safety,Its doesn't matter bihari or UP..stop illeagl business and crime rate...that means poilce good have good moral values...polticains don't interfere much in thier business
