Self responsiveness to reveive new ideas.
by Anil Kataria on Apr 04, 2006 06:27 PM  Permalink

Mr.Premji's observation that big ideas come from outside or other people is true but at the same time one has to be responsive to these ideas, then only can he be able to recieve them.
Responsiveness to new ideas is a gift and also a developed skill which can be built by getting involved in our activities.
Trusting the vision that has come along with the idea and putting in sincere, consistant and constant efforts to convert the idea into a reality is creativity. Undivided attention and a pinpoint focus will make the whole process innovative.

The article was great, few words but packed with firm belief and trust along with the efforts that have been put over decades can very easily wake a sleeping giant and make him attempt what Mr. Premji has acheived.

I wish him great health.

Regards

Anil Kataria

Mindset of Innovation
by Giri Girishankar on Feb 17, 2006 08:47 PM  Permalink

Indian technology and industry are finding themselves in a refreshingly new and challenging environment, driven by globalization. The worldwide competition in delivering products and services successfully to the satisfaction of the users of different cultures is bound to drive people to think of doing things differently. The culture of conservatism and acceptance of the status quo has to be replaced by the culture of innovation, a way of life that considers the users needs and ease as important.
The mindset of innovation, as called for by Premji, can only be imbibed when schools and colleges, as well as other productive organizations make it a custom to encourage and challenge the youth to think freely and independently and invite new ideas and solutions to the various activities of life.

yes for creativity

I go by the views of MR.premji.. Inorder to shine well in any field one must be highly innovative and should be able to apply his thought.. if u look at history sucess has come to those who thought in a different manner and approached a problem.i also feel that our education should also be directed towards creativity and innovation right from the root level itself

I agree with Mr. Premji, but is he really being so innovative at the organization level. Are they really building any innovative products. I dont think so, Indian IT industry, depends on projects from other countries. How many products did they deliver that are from innovative ideas of their own. they do deliver products, but the ideas behind them are not theirs!!!

These are just business people, nothing more, nothing less. when they talk of innovation, its just cause others have asked them to talk. Even i can give such big lectures, but that doesnt mean i am really being innovative.

perception

Mr premji's wipro seems to be in shambles, thats what is the general perception, which has started gaining ground. It always plays the second fiddle next to infosys. Perhaps in the future, sify or even smaller companies like cognizant and accenture could overtake its yearly earnings.

Innovation and creativity in IT
by Dr. Pervez Ahmed on Feb 16, 2006 11:08 PM  Permalink

Unfortunately, in our country, creativity and innovation in IT industry means coding and testing of software products conceived and designed by others. We are simply doing the labor intensive task and maing living.
I feel, in IT field creativity and innovation means conception of novel operating systems, new programming languages, algorithms, tools and techniques, applications and so on, and creativity means converting them into products through creative design and implementation techniques.

by jiteshparikh on Feb 16, 2006 10:44 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir ,

If you can ask Azim Premji , I worked for Wipro Group company in Ahmedabad and the culture which was there :- I feel strongly to tell Mr Azim Premji , if you treat others creativity can come from employees working for you .

Never underestimate potential of our country and people residing in our country.

They are so down to earth that they do not require themselve recognition of Forbes.

Just Crap
by Ravi on Feb 16, 2006 09:44 PM  Permalink

Its a waste of time reading the article. CEO's now tend to talk or write about things which we already know. We never get anything useful from what they say.

His definitions for Innovation and Creativity are just baloney. We just cannot talk because we can talk.

Innovation & Creativity...difference of opinion
by Ashish on Feb 16, 2006 08:49 PM  Permalink

I do differ from what Mr. Premji has said. I do not want to discount his experience but I feel, unless and until we start innovating ourselve, looking for ideas ouurselve, we will still be dependent on our so called "Customers" to provide us the ideas.

In turn, I opine that we have to reverse this trend. It has to be us providing inovative ideas, inovating new ways of doing things thereby adding value to our services.

Regards,
Ashish

Innovation & Creativity
by Dr.A.Jagadeesh on Feb 16, 2006 03:45 PM  Permalink

Innovative Technology is defined as development of technologies or production systems, which are not only appropriate to a social situation at a particular point of time, but also is free from the deleterious effects such as alienation or environmental imbalances. It considers the possible social and environmental changes, and this has built-in flexibility to adjust changing needs. Since such technologies would have to be essentially based on the integrated development of the total region, the concept becomes more wide in its economic, social and political perspective. At the scientific level it poses new challenges for the scientists to devise new technologies that are not available anywhere. It compels the scientists to come out to the people and try to understand them, their needs, their environment, their traditional technologies and skills, understand the science behind such skills based on experience and observation, and then evolve new techniques of production to suit their resources and native genius and meet their needs.

Innovation-Creativity
by kannan on Feb 16, 2006 03:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

hi,

I have some different opinion on what premji has stated about innovation and creativity........

Innovation is not just doing things differently,it is just doing new things. When u dont do somethings new and even if u do it differently it is not innovation.

Creativity is not just thinking differntly,it is the ability to create,.So even when u think differently and dont create somethings it is not creativity.(It just goes along with ur imagination skills)......

regards,
kannan
