cola ban
by j alan goveas on Aug 15, 2006 03:47 PM  Permalink

why the double standard by CSE if pepsi & coca coal are guilt then all the others too. more so because i think due to MNC they willhave better quality standards in place. imagine other indian colas/ n soft drinks must be having 30-40 times more pesicide as they dont have any quality control

you have rightly said the whole food chain is corrupted with the use of excessive use of chemicals
so if u want to ban ban all colas but before doing that set up the standards and int standrs laboratory to test

CSE is going for cheap publicity... if not they would have tested all colas n sopftdrinks and published the results

at the end i will risk drinking the pepsi n coca cola than the indian colas

about the left the less said is better about the hypocrites

they talk about poor n their upliftment but once in power they r busy enjoying the luxuries of life
mahatma gandhi is a true leftist in the sense he did what he preached

hope the lefts honeymoon will end soon and we have agovt without this shit

wake up we are independent and let our thoughts be not in bonadage to somebodies ideas

yes they should ban
by jujhar singh on Aug 15, 2006 03:37 PM  Permalink

yes ban is right. these coke companys has diffirent stands with india. indian coke and west coke has huge diffrence with there taste and also the health stands. they should be ban untill they not use the same standred of making. and govt should have a law to avoid all this double standreds. indian govt has no law to stop this. they should be ban or ask them to mantain same process like they are using in west.

ban on coke
by Arunachalam on Aug 15, 2006 03:35 PM  Permalink

Now let us not just carried away by one single event. Is the ban justifiable?
yes for the following reasons
1)the cost as mentioned by one of the readers is in paisas and we pay the cola companies the huge amount only to deliver us safe drinks irrespective of the water they get
2)leave alone the pesticides the drinks themselves have components affecting the body system
3)just because the cm of kerala has already taken up this issue in a wrong way the actions of pepsi and coke cannot be justified
4) of all the things, the government should take immediete steps to bring down the excessive usage of pesticides then encourage the organic fertilizers.

Pesticide in Coke and Pepsi : Need to ban
by sy on Aug 15, 2006 03:32 PM  Permalink

The author's argument that the ban should is against FIPB is incorrect. Permission is given to Coke and Pepsi to invest and earn in India subject to other conditions such as they meet the health concerns of the population of India. Once it has been shown that the pesticide content is high there is nothing in FIPB rules that can prevent us from banning their products. This is true anywhere in the world. Much stronger action would have been taken against an Indian company in the US if it was found to have pesticide in its products.

Coke and pepsi have not responded in a manner expected of a responsible company.

Unjustified
by Crispian on Aug 15, 2006 03:23 PM  Permalink

It is completely unjustified,Check all the other things that are having the pesticide content and then ban all(which the govt cant)ie rice,vegitables,fruits........ the list goes on and on,if the govt likes to correct all then that fine if not dont target only the softdrinks manufactures.

Ban on coke and Pepsi
by Preshith S on Aug 15, 2006 03:17 PM  Permalink

Sir,

I do believe the ban on Pepsi and Coke in Kerala cannot be justified. If Govt of Kerala really concerned about the health of people then the first thing that they should do is to control the usage and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products in the state. The rise in number of people who consume alcohol in the state is alarming.

Colas
by Prashant on Aug 15, 2006 03:13 PM  Permalink

Well it\\\'s true that we are leaving adulterated life and pestisides are omnipresent in whatever we eat,but that does not take away our right to know how much adulterted particular product is.Any company\\\'s profit comes from society,so they should be more reponsible to them, more so with the companies like pepsi and coke as they are the trend seters. And by hitting cola giants, strong message can be sent to other players to be more responsible towards society.

Is the ban justfied
by bala on Aug 15, 2006 03:12 PM  Permalink

Yes , it is by any means , FDI has to be there , but not at the cause pesticides.Author mean to say cola hasn't added any pestcides to their product. What are the benifits of cola giants we indians enjoy.
people should be benifited from any FDI. example car industry it has increased good products indians customers enjoy today.less polluting vehicles. What does cola gives us. " CAFFINE " and pesticides , endorsed by selfish players and stars .

how much of them, they themself will give to their kids after knowing that they contains high level of pestcides.

Kerala ground water contains high level of pesticides. You have to have some shit in place of your brain .

Ban on coke justified
by Krupa on Aug 15, 2006 03:08 PM  Permalink

What do we achieve by banning something or anything. If they are guilty in terms of violating the laws/norms prescribed why are they not prosecuted, why are they not fined, punished. There are legal recourses which should be used.

The true recourse lies in punishments and making them abide the regulations. If they are guilty why do we let them go away just by banning the products. The solution should be looked into besides punishments rather just imposing ban on products. It is like opposition parties and as the name suggest they oppose everything, good or bad.
