Lack of:- 1. potabe drinking water in major cities 2. storage facilities (basic, not the temperature controlled) for agricultural produce, 3. accountability at any level within any governing body.
Adundance of: 1. Rapes, rapes of infants, some even a few months old. 2.Adulteration, adultration even in baby foods and LSD's. 3.Money being wasted - celebrating???

there may be many things lacking in post-independence period, but freedom is still something that we do not value still we miss it.
true, it has not reached all sections of society, but still, you will know the value of freedom only if you have lived in a society where there is a hierarchy of castes or gundaism or of any other type and there is no way to escape.
i have spent a few years in a place where i have felt it and now, know what it would be to live under somebody's thumb for the whole life.
the fruits of freedom have definitely not reached all layers of society. if we could achieve it, it would be true development.
i have also spent a few years in a developed country and to me, development does not mean spanky buildigs and nice roads.
it is a place where there is least difference between what is prescribed in system and what is present in reality.
where even a weakest member of society can look to the system for protection if he or she is in trouble.
and when a lowest earning member of society, if he or she works full 8 hours a day, can have enough to live peacefully.
this kind of development is light years away from us, but, still anyone who says that we are worse off than in 1947 is an idiot.
Great to see the mother has turned to 60. Happy birth day mother. Your children are doing their best to make you proud. Pray for us to be in harmony for ever.

India of 1947 and 2007 has changed compeletly. Population alomst Doubled. from 40 to 100 crores. Curruption in hearts of majority of govt machinary. But this strong population is proving to be an asset for country with large number of skilled and semi skilled persons. World Balance is changing and Indian workforce is cherished in everyfield whether its IT , BPO , Manufacturing , Construction. Also the demand is upbeat in area of infrstucture development and logistics. Also Consumerism is coming in india slowly and steadly which could boost internal consurmer goods industry of India ( both Agro and non Agro Based). I think this is right time for Politicians and beurocrats to say bye bye to curruption and think in interests of India. If this would happen (not 100 % but 20-30%) then I have no doubt why India cant be Among top Nations of the World. Afterall one has to be optimistic , thats the only key to success.

India of 1947 and India of 2007, nothing changed remarkably, except another attire, named corruption has been put on. In the remote rural only the schools should remind them of the independence day. Let all Indians be free from their hypocrisy why wait for 2020, by 2010 it would be super power. So many have given their life for the nation, we are not ready to leave our selfishness, for the country. We have entered the new economic era in the race to become wealthy state. With justification for all our actions against the national interest. Going abroad, after studying in the Indian schools, Justifications I am not recognized here in India. My earning would be invested in my homeland. Wealthy can share their wealth through employment with the least ones. The same NRI . Would he apply the same ratio of the turnover as salary, with which he was paid. Even if he intended his fellow business men would not allow. Why before independent, even after independent, both in political , social and administrative fronts there are living heroes who place their loyalty to the nation against their selfish interest, who are fondly remembered by others. Their stories may not be successful ones to be in the chronicles, but they would be in the hearts of many. All the religious leaders have lived for the common good. Even as atheists many are living for common good , for them their own soul and intellect does not require external catalyst to live

Yes, really speaking it is worst than 1947. Our forefathers fight for our freedom. What is happening today. What is the purpose of removing british raj. Now the same congress installed the same same foreign lady as the head and her hand picked very old and not able to walk or talk properly had been the head of the country. It is sheer waste that our father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi brought freedom for us. The richer is becoming richer and poor becoming poorer. The corrupted politicians, corruption everywhere from top to bottom. As an we can't work in other states of the country. Parochial sentiments. Son of soil policy. Can't travel with peace.
