What do you think prompts a candidate to fake his or her CV?
by Rupinder Singh on Feb 22, 2007 09:32 PM  Permalink

Picture this scenario. I do not get along with my boss. I apply for a change. What am I supposed to tell my interviewer when she asks me why do I want to leave my current job? Do I tell her my boss is a jerk and that is why want to leave? No, I will probably use some crap like seeking new challenges and all that. The fact of the matter is "The closest you come to perfection is when you write your own resumes or when you appear for an interview". No interviewer is benign enough to give you the benefit of doubt in case of a shortcoming. Even if you are made an offer inspite of telling the truth, there will be compromises in that offer. Bottomline - almost 99% resumes out there will have some sort of discrepancy. But if the IT companies really want to induldge in nitpicking, then it will take months to fill a position.

Even they themself do this
by karthik krishnan on Feb 22, 2007 09:05 PM  Permalink

How far you all aware of the fact that the so called big IT companies send people with less experience or not relevant skil set to their client place saying that person has more experience & has woked in the required skill area.
I myself had been sent two times like that by different IT companies to client place claiming knowlegde on that area but the face is i never worked in those area.
My friend even IT companies they them selfs do such things, cheating their clients.

Noone's CV cud b 100% true
by e mahesh kumaran on Feb 22, 2007 08:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People are just been pushed to the corners to prepare CVs with some false informations. Apart, most will never do it purposely.... Let me give an illustration !!! Some of the top IT companies demands the candidates to have scored above 60% rite from the SSLC exams. I cudn't understand the logic behind this...

Its by nature that there r sme people who may b bit sluggish in studies in their earlier days & finally turning out 2 b the best....

So definetly companies also has gotta share to this !!!!!!!!!

Personally I feel, a fake resume should not matter for the company. Myself I have never faked it, but whether a person can deliver or not must be the only concern for the organization. Anyway, if the person does not deliver proper work output, companies do reserve rights to fire...so, what seems to be the problem?

Mr.Kiran you are far away from reality. It's not that only fake resumers are at fault.During joining many employers lie about offering atractive exposure, environment & growth potential, which they can't offer in reality.
There are ample amount of examples of talented people being fooled by the reputed employers. So if such candidate magnifies his experience & skill level in resume to get better opportunity & do the justice with his abilities then what's wrong with it?
Also candudates are selected on basis of their capabilities judged during interviews not on basis of their resumes only.
Remember Mr.Kiran FAKING IS THE CULTURE WHICH IS LEAD BY EMPLOYERS & H.R. PERSONNEL.

HI
by Vinay Anand on Feb 21, 2007 09:34 AM  Permalink

I feel many time its IT companies themselves who force people to fake there cv's. Take exp. of SAP Requirements unless a person gets oppurtunity they will never gain experience. But IT majors emphasize on experienced people only. Hence an individual desperatly in need of an oppurtunity lands up faking there CV's.

This is more like a egg and hen story.
