dear shalini, i strongly advise you that you work for at least two years after your graduation before you take up mba. this will help you to co-relate the theory taught in the classes with the reality you faced in your work place. i am working as a professional director in a construction company in mumbai. when i entered the mba classroom i had 11 years of working experience. no wonder many students thought i am the professor on the first day of the class! wish you all the best v p lobo
Everyone gets into the puddle you are. To me, it depends on what sort of job you are getting. If it is a job that is giving you the right opportunity to place yourself, I think its worth taking that up.
Take a pen and a paper and do the analysis. Is working really important for you - financially? Do you plan to settle down soon?
However, if it is just a b.com degree that may not give you a lot of exposure in the corporate sector, you might as well go for an MBA. In any case, it will take some time for you to prepare for your entrance - you might as well gain some work-ex while doing the same.

Many asked me why, In one go one must go for MBA? The major reason is sometimes your Learning Tempo is lost, if you join the job. Also, I talked to many Professors, CEOs around the world. They are of the opinion that, in many MBA curriculums, work experience is an inseparable part. So why not choose such MBA, where you learn and get the work experience in that field as a part of curriculum? Hence, if someone pursues MBA and then goes for the job, then while his/her next promotion is on the due, his/her experience after MBA is counted more, besides skills and performance/s. This law with some exception is valid in public services, private services, national and international incorporations around the world. It may be India Hence, MBA degree first and then Job is my clear opinion. Of course, if he/ she wishes can go for PhD/ Fellowship after that for enhancing his skills on the topic s/he wishes. I am working as a HR Professional forlast 2 Yrs, ACCORDING TO ME M.B.A should be taken up first as
placement agencies and many companies are now focuusing on freshers, and the experience which candidates will gain after just completing graduation will never be wOrthy enough to add to the
profile of an M.B.A. Hence M.B.A should be done that will help the candidate to give his career a GREAT start.
I suggest u go for a job atleast a year and then apply to MBA. Doing this will help u in two ways 1. u will be more confident and able to relate the theory to the practical and get better answers then any one to your academic queries. 2. Learnig will be fast and easy for you. But it should be clear to you before opting for a job that which specialization ru u looking for in MBA. I mean ur job should be in the same industry in which u want to persue the course.
I did my MBA in 2004 but learnet the practical world in a hard way now i think if i would have gone for a job and then come back to the industry i could demand for the opportunities in companies inspite of taking it in the industries way of giving.
I think it is very important to have Work-Ex before doing an MBA....
-- There is a shortage of Good Managers in India
-- MBA teaches you about all the different aspects of business and you are expected to implement it in your Job
-- With out Work-Ex everything is theory, you are not able to relate to it and get advantage of the knowledge that is imparted in the classrooms.
-- Any employer will prefer a full baked cookie then a half baked cookie. Think of the Salary you can negotiate with Work-Ex against without Work-Ex and make a choice :)
I am a working professional in Sales. In my opinion, go ahead for a MBA from a premier institute. The way job market is booming today, getting a job without an experience is not tough. The only Important thing is DONT compromise on the quality of the institute.
I would like all MBA aspirants to pick up some work experience before doing an MBA. Unlike other professional qualifications, MBA curriculm operates with an assumption that students do understand the corporate ballgame. A lot of impetus is on Strategy.
Applying strategy (be it marketing, business development or HR)requires a deep understanding of the subject-matter. People gain better subject-matter knowledge at workplaces than through books!
"There is short cut to knowledge", but there is no short cut to grey hair. Experience is the key !
You will enjoy your MBA after a couple of years of experience.
Hiiya i am currently doing my MBA in UK after having worked for 4 years. My view is that if i hadnt worked for 4 years my MBA would just have been another academic course.
Since i had worked i was able to relate my theory and validate my experiences and leanr and unlearn conecpts which i feel is important when u do your MBA.
I am having around 3.5 yrs in the Software. Now, I am planning for an MBA. Pls can you guide me how to start with? (Which Training Materials, time period required) I also have a very tight deadlines at work.

i think having experience in any field and then doing MBA will be better rather to shine in this field.
A good question!! ya i think you should be doing your MBA degree after a certain period of your job experience this is my experience.
you can also do it without the job experience but then there are chances that u will relate the theories of MBA as an "imagination" you can not really term it as an "imagination" but the facts will come to your mind when you hav a job experience, and then you will certainly have a clear idea of the theories of MANAGEMENT.
