I feel once a person has experience then it broadens his thinking. And you will understand the value of MBA degree.
To be on the safer side work for one year then enroll for part time mba offered by institutes like ITM, Welingkar etc.
However, if you plan for top notch institutes then its advisable to devote few months and undergo rigourous training for the aptitude tests b'cos in this case you will have placement assurance.
First of all a person should go for Job/service then he can go for MBA. Suppose if we take an example of B.Tech, student/candidate so fist he/she should click job then go for mba from good institution, because now a days lot of institutions are conducting executive MBA
You may have done your MBA from the best of the B schools but work experience will definately put you in a much better position while seeking a CHALLENGING job. However the best way to a healthy job is to gain some job experience and then do your MBA. This will help you correlate a lot of your studies with the experience you have gained and you will be in a better position to fire in interviews.
However i would like to add one more point to the discussion. In todays competitive world, having a degree with work experience is just not enough. Money buys an MBA degree in todays world and hence, i as a recruiter look at candidates with good command over language, presentation and presence of mind.
Hope you develop the last skills either at job or during your MBA
Well i belive both have their own importance...i am too a bba and did my mba from mumbai ITM Khargar...
Well to be excat on the perspective of mine fo the query of yours...i belive MBA is must before starting your job.. Because when you enter into a battle you dont enter with a thought that once i will start fighting i will understand that which weapon is necessary for one self and then go back to learn how to use the concerned weapons for the battle.
If that seems to be confusing then will make it simpler for you...once you start working its very important to just focus on the job which you do and try to utilise whatever management knowledge you have on job....experience will come on its own.....
I strongly believe one must have at least 3 - 4 yrs of work experience then opt for MBA. Major European & North American B-schools require substantial work experience. Only through that one can understand the work culture, complexities in handling the projects, importance of effective communication. Moreover MBA is not an exact science, here two plus two is not equal to four that one needs to understand. It a case study based learning process, hence an MBA class demends prof-student symbiotic relationship. Overall there is an underlying demend of certain level of maturity, business understanding (goal of the organization) & understand of handling work pressure. There may be exceptional student who deserve place in MBA class without work-exp. But those are exceptional cases. In a nutshell, to rip the maximum benefits of an MBA one need have at least 3 yrs of work experience.
Hi shalini, good to know that you have already decided to take up your MBA, now the only concern remains when to take it up.Iam presently employed in Dubai an am into the media industry.previously i was in Bangalore with one of the top HR recruitment and staffing solutions consulting firms.MBA,though its a three letter word it does add much weight to your CV as well. But what matters most is whether you have the ability to cope with the corporate culture. Now you are fresh out of college....though it would make more sense for you to join for ur MBA right away, what remains as a big question is whether its an MBA that you really want to do?Once you get exposed to the corporate culture you will be able to indentify yourself in a much better way. Moreover you will grow personaly and professionaly if you have some work Exp before you go for your MBA.Maturity is something that you will need once you do your P.G and the best way to attain it is by working with some good firms for atleast an year. When you start facing the corporate world you will be able to understnd what exactly you want professionaly, whether to be in mrktng,HR,Finance or systems. This will help u in ur MBA too.All the best.
