Rejecting the Job offer is easy & Company will suffer. I accept it but to avoid the loss incurred. There are few ways. Here we go..
Once the offer is provided , the concerned HR should continously keep in touch with the candidate.This will help the candidate gain confidence over the company & people in it. This is one way the company can identify the people's interest towards joining the organisation.
I sincerely agree with the article ... about informing companies gracefully that you're not accepting their offer. But then even the companies should do the same thing. I have given a number of interviews, where they told me that "we will get back to you" and the companies never get back. And I'm talking about big IT companies which are supposed to be very professional. I think even the HR managers of these "big" companies need to be taught to be truly "professional" ...
I was surprised to note the contents of this article. Should the above news be true, I have a few questions. 1. what is Nascom doing against the companies like TCS which take one sided employment bonds? don't they know that as per the bonded labour abolition act of 1976, it is unconstitutional? Nascom does not want to curb this. 2. What is Nascom's effort in putting a check on organizations that inform the candidate "we will get back to you" and never even send a regret mail? Is it professional on the part of the organization? 3. what is Nascom's effort in curbing the practices like..."tell me what is other people offering you.. we will offer more" kind of coments ffrom organizations? Infact, these are the reasons why techies switch companies.

rosh dude get real you make it sound as if these companies have done more for the candidate than their parents, :-) No body does anybody a favor , especially corporates, so TCS hires because TCS NEEDS, and gets freshers cheap.
E.g A fresh mechanical engineer recruited by Infosys, fails a couple of exams (naturally!!!!)and is terminated. Chap is out of a career even before he has begun one. I support infosys's right to terminate employees they feel are not suitable and I support the vice versa.

None will agree to the comments you have ...Nowadays employees have a feeling thats its briven by employees...Never,first we should respect our employers..You are talking abt TCS, why do you sign agreement if you are not interested...When you join there as a fresher you sign the bond...But once you are trained on the technology you feel that you are somewhere flying in the sky & don't even respect the employeer who had given you the opportunity...You have even mentioned that bcse of this only employees leave job often,thats another point which cannot be accepted...They go only for money...I am talking abt majority of techies...if you are leaving a company bcse the company is not treating you well,will you join another company for the same salary...Why you are asking for 40 - 50 % hike...Why you bargain with them...
This Article throws light only on one side of the picture, what happens to thos companies which doesnt even bother to inform the candidate that they are rejected after several months. why doesnt the HR politely say the correct reason for rejection so that candidate can improve in week areas?
I was exactly in the same dilemma as mentioned in the article. It has defintely helped in framing my letter to the org where I have decided not to join and at the same time, not feel guilty about the same!!
The article is good and pointed out a problem of the current era. However What about the employers who keep silent even months after they interview the candidates? I feel the Author who is also a consultant must cover this part as well. The words employer and employee no longer indicate any superiority of one over the other. It is a business deal where employers pays and gets the service while employees serves and gets pay. So the potential employee deserves some respect from the employer. The employer by being silent communicates the message than employee can also communicate the message by being silent. I remember a case while I was placing ERP professionals from my division.It was when ALIT picked up two candidates from us, and conveniently informed after 2 months that they didnt have projects and advised the candidates to try somewhere else. Same ALIT hired them after 6 months but complained to me a few months later that the candidates left to US even without settling the accounts. I think Nasscom should avoid making all such list. If it is non turning up then in 2000 it was pink slips. Did Nasscom ever tried to Black list companies who fired innocent people. Did Nasscom did anything when Companies like Wipro, Motorola turned down campus recuited people for a year. Nasscom works in benefit of Companies not Professional. I condemn any such list.
