It was my first time that I have read urs article. It was really great.
What i feel that, the equation should have been "Izzat x Matlab x Mazaa x Risk".
Making a change from the current job to a new one will always involve some risk. The level of risk may differ from person to person. Also, without risk, life become boring & dull.
You can interchange risk with mazaa at certian points, but at many places they are totally different.
Risk, is always there be it current job or a new job.
This article was something which would make a person think seriously about those four variables mentioned. I think the crux lies in the facxt that these three variables ie mazaa, matlab and izzat are subjective and are a state of mind...what i eel is any job which makes a living is "respectable" and carries a great "meaning" "fun is highly "subjective" and cant be achieved to the fullest till the time you are in a working environment under restrained conditions. A TC's job which was the pretext of the concept quite covers all the three aspect in a country like India where population:opportunity ratio is severly unbalanced and most of the people strive for a decent living throughout their lives. In this world generally everyone run towards wealth and comforts of life which plays a crucial role in today's materialistic world but extent for these needs varies form person to person which is a natural setup by the creator so that this place becomes as adaptable for anyone to survive. The major twist to this concept is Maslow's theory which is well applicable and which very well justifies the subjectivities between these variables according to disparity in needs of the people.
Hi...I don't know about others but I love journalism...I've just finished my post graduation in journalism and am starting work shortly....i find it full of izzat, matlab and mazaa!!!
Very apt! In India, the majority still takes up a profession because of the prestige and security attached to them. It is as if we are churning out robots out of a factory to do IT and call centre jobs. The same might be true in almost every country including U.S. Very few really explore their inner calling and make a career out of it.
The article is awesome. I totally and fully agree with the writer. Its written with so much conviction that it was a fun read. Lets have some more of such kinds dished out. Thank you so much. Bhavna.
Hey Rashmi, That was well said..I agree with you to a fair extent. But there are some too idealistic expressions made in your theory. Well I am an IT guy working for a company which makes me travel a lot abroad. Earlier during my college days, I only dreamt of stepping out of India..But my work has turned that to reality. I agree, I am mixing mazza with Matlab here, but that if they both seem the same, why ponder on separating the two...Once a person attains a high economic and social status, the matlab of living will automatially come in when he can afford to do good for the society and himself. But until then, Let mazza and Izzat rule the world...!!!
