What an article this was
by Parthiban N on Jan 08, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink

I propose this article to be comprehensive enough to fight the appellate battle on its own. Forget about the enraged Indian Team & incompetent and polictically motivated BCCI.

Racist Procter
by KAMALESH SANGHANI on Jan 08, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink

Why is it that Mr.Procter finds mistakes only with the Indian sub-continent? Mr.Panicker's earlier write up on the incident involving banning of Rashid Latif should equally apply to Mr.Ponting. Why isn't BCCI not taking up the issue of Rashid Latif precedence and seeking a ban on Ponting? But one can never trust BCCI - they will care only for their self interest (it is money, money and nothing else). Nation's pride is nothing for them before money. They are worried that BCCI will be penalised, Australians will give the 20-20 format a miss, etc. Any person with self respect would have asked the Indian team to call off the racist Australian tour.

Firstly, you stated that Harbi has an unblemished reputation. The same fellow that has been charged previously with throwing (and was found guilty and had to undergo remediation), breaking one of the core fundamentals of the game. No garbage excuses such as I can't straighten my arm, he just throws. Why? To get advantage. Nice reputation.
Secondly, you suggested that if Sachin sent the SMS to Pawar then Harbi must not have said it. I refer you to your own latest rediff article. Sachin didn't send the SMS so by your logic, Harbi must have said it. Maybe your article was well written after all.

Dear Doogie (Mind you i didnt use Doggie!)
Greetings!
Some questions to you Mate.
1. Who gave pitch report and weather conditions to the bookies?
2. Who bowled under arm on the final ball of a international ODI ?
3. Who bullied the batsman and the umpire after taking a catch which was clearly grounded.
4. Who called a bowler chucker when his spin could not be fathomed.
5. Who turns a blind eye to a fast bowler since retired now and another bowling now who also bend their arm by 15 degrees and both clearly chuck when bowling a yorker / short pitch balls?
6. Who cried mummy when sarwan gave one of the most fitting repartees in the history?
7. Who Called the South Africans / Srilankans derogatory names?
8. Who takes steroids and other enhancing substances and vociferously negates the need to introducing doping test in cricket?
9. Who cribs about hotel, food, crowd when they lose a match?
10. Who played with carbon fibre bats, bats with width exceeding the prescribed length, squash balls tucked in the gloves?
11. Who keeps using the words B-----D, F--- --F
every now and then when they get plasterd for four or six runs?
12. Who refused to play in srilanka in world cup 1996 when the reason of fear of losing in sri lanka more than security?
The list can go on mate, so dont open your mouth like ponting and symmonds when not warranted and make the old saying true " It is better to remain silent and be assumed as an idiot rather than open your mouth and remove all doubts about it!

dude...read the article properly first....mr.prem clearly states that the person with unblemished reputation is not 'harbi' but sachin tendulkar, wouldn't you agree to that? we all indians will! then secondly, rumours do generate, and the second point was merely based on it....if sachin did not send, it doesn't mean that 'harbi' is guilty...it simply means that BCCI was not acting upon sachin's request, and it had a mind of its own. SIMPLE! maybe you need to read the article thoroughly before writing, or maybe you also fall into the same league as that of the infamous 'BENSON & BUCKNOR's AUSSIES'

Fair enough, I stand partially corrected. The use of 'he said' twice in the same sentence referring to two different people threw me off. As for the rest, just applying the same level of logic that everyone ls seems to be.

Appealing and then suspending the tour till a favourable decision taken is not applying pressure? Is it fair practice?

Symonds, Hayden etc
by satyajit mitra on Jan 08, 2008 12:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

all got it wrong. A punjabi firebrand like Bhajji would never have said monkey. He was more likely to have said MAKI (something) referring to the bloke's mother.

Surely the Aussies can appreciate that and get on with life

Excellent! This article should rub the australians at the right places.
In a bad company even a good man is reduced to the morality of their lowest common denominator. We know Ponting is arrogant and lair, but the image will be reflected to whole australian team (if not whole of australia).

Pressure
by devdass on Jan 08, 2008 12:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If Appealing and parallely suspending the tour is not applying pressure what else is? What all Craddock has said is that ICC should not buckle under this kind of pressure and take a fair decission. What is wrong? If Ponting is a out right Cheat,Harbajan is not a saint either!
