Haha Craddock will stop making stupid allegations after he read this post. In fact he has given us some suggestion that India should lead the ICC. Now Go BCCI, you have it in you to rule the ICC and clean it's roots

The very fact that sportsmanship takes a back seat
by amitava sarma on Jan 08, 2008 12:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is extremely unfortunate that lots of people at Down Under and England who seems to know all about the game forget one thing that the basic tenets of Cricket as a sport are Integrity and Sportsmanship. On both counts Australians and in particular the Gang of 4 Ponting, Gilchrist, Symonds and Michael Clarke have failed miserably . The trouble with the Aussies is that they always want to b in a win win situation whether the means justifies that or not. To all intents and purposes India wud have won the Sydney Test had Bucknor and Benson duo applied themselves and ultimately Team India lost again thanks to the exemplary decisions of the duo. Whether Harbhajan said the words or not in the spat where 1st of all Symonds shd not have bn involved as it involved Brett Lee who did not say anything is not clear either to the supervising duo and Procter only relies on Ponting's untruth to punish Harbhajan. BCCI may b rich and ICC may think of stern action but on what foundation a guilt not proved do u think it will stand the Test of Law!I do not want to comment on the views of our own Mr Bedi who just said such things happen without having any concern about India's National Pride being hurt which was voiced by Dr Farookh Abdullah. Pl do not take me to b Negative but this is the limit one as an Indian can digest The tour can go on only if charges against Harbhajan is dropped and Sydney Test b declared unofficial. Mr Sharad Pawar r u listening!

That's cuz neither england nor Australia know anything abot integrity, dignity, or sportsmanship. Long after Napoleon first said it, England is still a nation of shopkeepers. And Oz, well the less said the better.

Enuf of this righteous indignation
by Nilesh Sathe on Jan 08, 2008 12:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dont mind being a minority here but if u cant survive 2 sessions on a reasonable flat track, even if a couple of decisions are dodgy then u have no reason to complain in my book.In all this cacaphony nobody seems to mind all our stars ( with or without the bollywood ones) showing zero application. Hell if the aussies had been set a target of 333 they might just have gone for it. remember the great indian cautious approach of not enforcing follow ons when 300 ahead or setting targets of 500 to be absolutely sureof not losing rather than winning!!!! And indians shld b the last one to complain of unnecessary appealing. Our record at home shows how we too dont mind getting the odd Lara and Peterson wicket off dodgy calls.

You might be right. But what can bowlers do in such a pressure situation, which I believe is caused by the wrong decisions of umpires. The top two batsman were given out when the team is critical situation trying to save the match

If each batsman was given two chances, then every team including Holland can win the game against Australains. Not 1,2..There are too many decisions took the game beyond the senses

Excellent Writing!

Kudos to you, Prem, for writing such an incisive article.
However, tell me what do you think about this recent development (news) that Sachin Tendulkar did not send the sms to Sharad Pawar. Does the story now take a turn?

Well said but
by Libran on Jan 08, 2008 12:34 PM  Permalink

Except for the sentence below, I agree with you.
and that is
"we revere our parents; doesn't everyone, everywhere?"
Seriously, to say the least, whites in general and australians in particular have no respect for age - be it for their parents or some one elses. They care two hoots for parents. If (if at all) an earning son goes with retired father to a restaurant, both pay their own bill! A ninety year old man gets his own groceries even if there are six kids!! Many people use that very same word - old monkey - for their father!

bhajji's ban is suspended, but he's not absolved of the crime he's supposed to have committed. the clur that they slapped on him unilaterally and in a biased way has not been removed. this is cheap.
