how to make India world-beaters in cricket
by Abhishek Haldar on Oct 31, 2006 01:52 AM  Permalink

Before kicking Pathan, I think we should kick Mr. Chappel out of the team. If you only knew, he is the reason for Pathan's downfall for his stupid dream of making Pathan world's best allrounder. Rather, I would like to see Pathan as our number one strike bowler, which painfully, he was even a couple of months ago. So let him focus solely on his key strength - his bowling. So, here's my suggestion of how India can be a world-beater:
1. Kick Mr. Chappel out of the team
2. Replace our captain. As a captain, I think Dravid is still way behind Sourav, and keeping in mind that world cup is just a couple of months away, we better act fast and bring Sourav back into the team as The Captain.
Let's talk about Sourav as a batsman. For those who are against Sourav, look at our team's recent batting performance. Look at Raina, Kaif, Dravid...everybody's performance, do you think Sourav will do worse? Atleast I dont think so. Even if he scores 10, 15, 20 whats wrong with that guys!!? Your venugopal rao or suresh raina or kaif isn't doing any better plus Sourav is also an useful oneday bowler, don't forget that, besides his years of experience.
3. Let Pathan focus only on his bowling

Indian team badly needs at least one quality Batsman in the lineup other than Dravid & Tendulkar. The hole that has been created by the bad form of Sourav & finally his omission from the team not been ably filled up by Raina, Kaif, Venugopal etc. So I guess the team needs a similar caliber player like Ganguly in the ODI squad if not him if they want to win the world cup.

stop experiments, let phatan b as a bowler,in future he will b an allrounder now no hurries.
include laxman in oneday team.
dont comment any player if he is not in form.
rest is fine in the team its a world class team no need to do anything to this team it has gr8 players, what u can teach TENDULKAR, dravid,in batting n bhajji n kumble in bowling departments, only thing is give them enough time to settle down in the team for that they need to play domestic cricket more before facing international teams,DOMESTIC CRICKET PRACTICE MATCHES brings out the hidden talent in young players who hav gr8 enthusiasm to plat in Indian cricket team, that is how we got sreesanth, munaf, suresh raina so concentrate more in domestic matches than anything else plz make of it dear vengsarkarji.

Jaffer opens; Kumble goes first change
by Srinivas Bharadwaj on Oct 31, 2006 12:44 AM  Permalink

Goign in with just 2 seamers pathan, and 2 spinners,

India should look to Kumble to go in first change

ahead of the third seamer and Harbhajan to attack

with spin. Around the 11th over with Powerplay, Kumble

needs to specialize in take a couple of wickets. The

reason is the fact that Pathan and Zaheer have proven

unreliable as openers often reducing pressure on

the batsmen. Reducing each to only 3 overs in the

first spell and relying on a double spin attack

through the middle overs might be the way to go. It maybe possible to slow down the first powerplay by 2 or 3 overs. Kumble is capable of pressuring the

batsmen early on.

Jaffer is a great call, given his great performance

in the test series in West Indies. Kaif too did well

in the one-dayers. Jaffer/Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kaif, Dhoni is a good top order. With 2 spinners there

is no need for Mongia as a bowler. Pathan could also

pad up, were an early wicket to fall. Time is running

out. Raina is a great option for the 2011 world cup.

Chappell needs to step down. Zaheer needs to show

that he can be reliable and experienced. Pathan needs to concentrate on his bowling (first change)

Ganguly
by Nirav on Oct 31, 2006 12:30 AM  Permalink

Bring Ganguly back. The attitude he brings to the team makes a difference. Dravid is un-imaginative. Kick out Pathan, Raina, Agarkar and put Sehwag on a short lease.

Bringing Ganguly back would also mean Chappell stops running the team.

Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Sreesanth should be the pace attack. Harbhajan should be the spinner.

My suggested team.

Tendulkar, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dravid, Yuvraj, Mongia, Dhoni, Harbhjan, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Sreesanth.

Sehwag, Ganguly, Mongia, Tendulkar and Yuvraj can bowl 20 overs if needed. We can risk the other teams scoring 100 runs in the 20 overs.

Backup bench:

Mohd. Kaif, Robin Utthappa, Gautam Gambhir, VRV Singh, Anil Kumble,

India Cricket Teams poor performance
by magic_spinner on Oct 30, 2006 11:34 PM  Permalink

The Pot-Bellied Indian Cricket players and management are to blame for Indian Cricket Teams recent performance. The management needs to raise the regional cricket's standard in India to at least South Africa's level, if not to Austraia's or England's. I know that some people at BCCI are trying their best, but many at BCCI are using their pot-bellies to think and sitting on their bums. At this pace in 500 years time Indian Cricket Team might be as good as the present Aussie team are now, by when the Aussies would have taken to their game to next level or maybe to some other planet or galaxy.

I know the festive season was around, but come-on, thats no excuse for the performance of Pot-bellied players. We dont see the Aussies with Santa Clause bodies around Christmas time. When ever the all conquering captain Steve Waugh was asked of the Secret of his team, he always used to say that he was captaining the most hard working team in the world, who put in the most hours and effort in practice and the Gym. I am sure that Ricky Ponting will say the same. Even Dennis Lillee, back in the days used to spend EIGHT HOURS bowling practice everyday and then at the end of the day enjoy a pint

Indian team

Its pathetic to see Indian Bowling went into
pieces.I support this team when they are playing
good. But the way all 3 bowlers were knocked out
for runs was unbeleivable. It means there was
something wrong. That is clearly short of bowling
practice. You got to practice well at the maximum
depth because it does the job easily. And the
Indians will not do this and will never going to
do this. They got to learn from Aussies and Proteas.
Iam not so depressed with this performance. It is
true last couple of years they won more matches
by chasing huge scores but what about defending
it cleary shows they dont have depth in Bowling.
They must practice with good line and length.
Though i support India But iam always a great fan
of South Africa i like the way they play. They are
the fielding machines AND they had even thought
the aussies how to field that is why the difference
of both the teams is very small. They Knocked the
lankans by 78 runs and the pakistanis were tottering
at 27/6 and beaten by 124 runs that was the huge
margin this is the way u got to bowl.Hope AUS & SA clash for finals u have to see the level of play.
Top ranking teams.
