Mr. Chappell, you should not forget that Sourav is one of the only five (5) greatest cricketers of the world who had scored 5000+ runs in test cricket and 10000+ runs in ODIs. So he is no way less charismatic person in the cricketing fraternity than that of yours, rather he is on a higher level. Please don't forget that Sourav has attained this status with his standing fitness level. So your allegation has no credence. As far as mental fitness is concerned, the stauchest opposer of Sourav, such as Ravi Shastri, also will like to disagree with your view on the same. And finally it has come out that you tried to frame Sourav to satisfy your ego by stating blatant lies. Here also you must have got the taste of Sourav's mental strength with which he has fought against all your false allegations.
I believe that whatever Mr. Chappel has said is correct. Currently, Ganguly is not in good form and he is unfit to lead Indian team. It is true that Indian team is most successful under him. But if you see the greatest captains like Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor etc. has to go when their team is still winning matches. If the player is out of form like Ganguly i.e. for a long time of 1 year, he should take sanyas from cricket.
Chappel has cultivated sense of insecurity in the team that unperforming player will go. But this is good for team. Players like Harbhajan, Zaheer, Yuvraj etc., are supporting Ganguly because they know that if they perform badly for a long time, other youngsters will replace them.
PS: Ganguly should go. It means Mr. Mahendra has lied & Chappel is right.
The problem is yet not solved. If the BBC thinks that the problem is solved, they are wrong. Until further the BBC come fair in selection (not interfere), strictly select on merit, then only the problem will be solved.
If the BBC thinks that with their personal interest they can includ a non-performing player in Indian team, then this problem will come in future also.
First select the players on merit as per their performance. Then select one person to lead the team. This should be the selectin criterial.
If BBC thinks that Kapil's team win the world cup, is it possible Kapil still lead Indian team, what a joke?
Mr. Dalmia come out with fresh mind, if India want to wiin and Mr. Ganguly not depend on any selectors or BBC officials, perform first then open your mouth. Perform against Australia, S. Africa, England Pakistan. Don't spoil Indian team. Sit and think about your performance of last two years. You cannot hang over in Indian team.
It's a pity how people repeatedly target Sourav everytime anything goes wrong. The man has led India to numerous wins not only as a captain but also as a player. He was instrumental in bringing back the smile to the waning faces of Indian cricket lovers when we were mired in betting controversy. The person being Captain of the team fought to rule out schism and aimed at developing a bonding amongst players is now being subjected to such a humiliation and is questioned about his physical and mental health? It is surprising to see some of the ex-cricketers also aiming for his head. For a man who has scored 15000 runs in international cricket, its really a pity to find people accusing him of faking injuries and questioning his ability to face pace attack. Its about time people stopped accusing him and insulting him. Had he belonged to some other country he would have earned a lot of respect and love for his achievements and services. We, Indian, have this tendency of praising the likes of Steve Waugh, Stephen Fleming, Micheal Vaughen ... but the person who did similar wonders to Indian cricket is being questioned about physical and mental health. Its really a pathetic situation.
It is sad looking at the state of affairs of Indian Cricket in hands of a few people, who actually might not even be aware of the technalities of cricket and captaincy.
Ravi Shastri is supposed to have shot a volley of questions to Ganguly in the meeting. His reply was that he had writted it in his document. Not sure whether Shastri got his answers or not.Or did he supposedly keep quiet under Dalmiya's influence?
The solution of calling for a truce between the captain and coach seems to be a just one in a situation like this.Removal of Ganguly would have complicated matters, what with the elections coming up.However it now reamins to be seen whether the Selection committee would be coming out with better results when they sit again after the South African series. All support should be given to Chappel if we are to be anywhere near the top slot in one day cricket.Only time will tell.
Please cont with the good work u doing in USA. Dont ever write abt indian cricket. You are wasting your time as well as we. What ever happen indian cricket will be like this.
Its high time to say good bye to Indian Cricket. U c, all this discussion and talks started for ganguly who is not eligible to be in the Zimbawe tour itself on merit. Even if all this issues were not there he was not suppose to be in the team with his last 2 years form.
They (BCCI - Board of Circus Control In India) r not ready for any changes and they want the fans to accept what ever they say. Please all supporters of Indian cricket dont waste ur time. Concentrate on ur job, family and studies.
Mr. MAHENDRA and a bunch of cronies including the consistenlt "NON PERFORMER" off late the so called Mr.CAPTAIN, SOURAV GANGULAY are making a MOCKERY of INDIAN CRICKET.
SOURAV doesn't need a place in ODI and also in TEST, His last test century which consumed in excess of 230 balls on a team of Zim kind is not great shake.
SOURAV,It's time U go back to Ur. old pals "NAGMA INCLUDED !!!" and spend Ur. retired life then questioning a professional like GREG CHAPPEL who I guess is here to REWRITE "INDIAN CRICKET HISTORY" many ways.
Shame on the Indian cricket council..... which sticks to its base less rules.. and give importance to a person(Our so called Captain-who doesnt score runs but want to lead the team) who is creating a Big havoc in the indian cricket team.
If you have to be a captain of a team then you should be a Role model for all the others... but unfortunately its reverse in our Indian cricket team....
No doubt once upon a time he was a good player... but as the age comes.. he need s to understand that .. he can not play the game as before.. and based on these facts he should step down with Good respect..but he wants to get into a situation were he wants to be checked out...Gangulyyyy Think abt it.........
And more over he doesnt have to divide the team to maintain his position,..
And the major fault lies with our Indian selection team... whihc does not think abt the future prospects of the team...Undoubtedly one day or the other these people will get to know How correct was that legend(Chappell).
Everyone saw the captaincy of Rahul Dravid in Sri Lanka. It was one of the finest displays of a thinkin head. The way he rotated the bowlers and set his field placements was brilliant. On the other hand Gangulys body language was far from impressive in Zimbabwae. Agreed that chopping and changing the team would be disasterous, but a new captain with a fresh view is the need of the hour.Azharuddin said in one of the telephonic interviews on a channel that its important for the captain to take suggestions from seniors players including the vice captain. But the feeling goes that Ganguly never seems to do that.Rarely have we seen him consulting Dravid(vice captian) for any kind if advice in crunch situations. Having said that,Ganguly can be a great batsman if he starts actually concentrating on his batting .It seems that he is too much eager to hold on to his post that he is forgetting hopw to bat!! He looked absolutely out of sorts against Bonds pace.Surprising for a batsman who has scored "over 10 thousands runs". It must have been disheartning for Dravid who inspite of good leadership(even though we lost) had to simply pass on the captaincy to Mr.Dalmiys blue eyed boy..to be con
