reason for india's failure
by steve on Apr 06, 2007 11:16 AM  Permalink

no doubt individually india has a stronghold, but we must remember that one can never succeed if ther is no team spirit where team work is concern. the indians must not keep any grudge with one another ....even with the coach. It is a big loss for india as a nation because this so called cricket is one of those fields where indians are competent, can shine and can show their worth. But alas! there very early departure has degraded the must anticipated likely to be won trophy.

Wrong Team Selection
by suryanarayan rao on Apr 06, 2007 10:10 AM  Permalink

No former captain but still in the team wants the credit of winning important matches to go to a new captain. They just want to improve their records or earn as much as possible. Even if the team is on the verge of winning , they will simply see to it that the team loses. This is called internal jealousy. They want to prove that the selectors are wrong in removing them from captaincy. Former captions should not be taken in the team at all, or a captain should be tested ,if he is still good in batting, to go on till he agrees that he is no good for the job. Secondly before the national team goes for a test or 2-3 zonal matches should be played and if a player consistantly performs then only he should be included in the national team. This helps those new comers in the zonal match to prove their competency and get into the team. Zonal players should be all young budding promising players from a pool of 50.The simple rule should be ,"If you are in form play for the country and do not disgrace the country because of your selfish motive. Let somebody play in your place. Your past experience is of no use if you can not contribute on the testing day". We can atleast copy the Australian selection methods which is exellant and time tested.-By Prof.Rao

Who is responsible
by Subramanian K on Apr 06, 2007 09:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is only the billion plus cricket crazy fans who are responsible for the early India exit. Inspite of the fact the Team India had chicken heart8ed perfoemrs, we all put our time and energy in supporting the wrong horse.

Team India showed consistency.........in failing time and again.

Team India is NOT to be blamed. Only the innocent fans are to be blamed for the debacle.

THANK YOU FOR THE CORRECTION.

READ THIS FROM NT
There's a brighter side to India's exit from the World Cup.
Something that can cheer up disappointed fans and angry advertisers. Sri
Lanka has done a great favour to Indian economy by ousting the cricket team
from the World Cup. There are about 80 million cable and satellite viewing
homes in India.

According to TAM ratings, the average viewership of all World Cup matches
held till now stands at about 3%, with India vs Bangladesh touching a high
of 7.25%. To reach the finals, India would have played at least seven more
matches.

Considering a TV Rating of 7.25%, at least 5.8 million people would have
watched the match. This would have resulted in a productivity loss of
371.2million man hours (
5.8 million x 8 hours x 8 matches), apart from stress faced by mothers
during exams.

About 3% of 81 million TV viewers (2.4 million) were ardent cricket fans and
would have sat through all eight hours in the remaining 28 matches. Thus
overall, Indian team's ouster would result in a productivity gain of 481
million man hours of work (28x2.4x8 man hours), if put to use.

The Sri Lankans have given a boost to the Indian economy by saving 54,902
man years of work (one year = 8,761 hours). Indians can build seven phases
of the Golden Quadrilateral connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai
spread over 5,846 kilometres all over again, with this time saved.

A daily wage skilled labourer in Delhi earns Rs 17 per hour. If put to
productive use, the 481 million man hours can produce Rs 817 crore of GDP,
which is 63% more than BCCI's annual revenues of Rs 500 crore, last year.
It's 401% more than the Rs 163 crore losses, corporate India has predicted
to incur due India's ouster.

The state electricity boards are also thanking Sri Lanka for the great
favour. A TV consumes 45 watts per hour. Assuming a viewer will now switch
off his TV by 12 midnight, it will save Rs 135 watts at least per viewer
(not considering the electricity consumed by other appliances running
simultaneously.)

This will save the electricity boards 324 million watts of electricity (
3.24 lakh kilowatts) in just 28 days. According to estimates, SEB losses in
India will touch Rs 1 lakh crore by 2008.

If disappointed viewers completely switch off their TVs for eight hours, it
will save the government at least 8,64,000 kilowatts, along with many more
lives %u2014 at least three Indian citizens have been reported to die due to
cardiac arrest or suicide after India's defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

Indian Selectors should WAKE UP
by gurpal bajwa on Apr 05, 2007 07:07 PM  Permalink

We are a vast country and see no new players other than repeating the old star performers every time. They have played their innings and if they continue further more fingers would point at them, its probably time for them to resign gracefully and the selectors realise the country is piled up with talent . We need a strong hand in selecting the right players without politicians having any hand in the BCCI, which we have blown out of propotion, how many of those in the BCCI understand what the fielding positons are called. The once famous Indian Hockey was killed with politicians interferring in the game. So its time to gear up rather than blame Greg, Sachin and Co, they tried their best and lets give them a pat, nobody wants to loose , we need to take defeat more gracefully, but we need better and more agile youngsters NOW.Use Sachin and Co to guide the new team instead.

We can't attribute abysmal performance of India in WC-07 to any single person. It is collective failure. India had never shown professional performance to be world winners like srilankans and Oz. The irate people of india are now showing their anger by asking to throw senior players from the team. I don't think this is any solution to the problem at hand. India couldn't produce players with alround abilities who can win game on their day. Even the young lads coming into the team are not athletic enough to show fielding skills like senior players in SA, OZ, SRL et al., let alone young buddies in their respective teams. Like in Australia, if one man fails, other man of the team standup and win the game. While in india, we expect a single player to win every game. Don't forget that Tendulkar was only player of India who had delivered under trying conditions and on whom entire nation hopes depended. He athletic even today while running for others. That is why he is recognised world wide among greats. Lately, he has been in and out for reasons unavoidable for any player in international cricket with such a long service. He gets a chance to play an odd game and people expect him to score not less than 100 in every match and put him under tremendous pressure. Dear friends, I plead all of you don't embarass the nation by embarassing Sachin.

Parallel cricket league to BCCI by ZEE
by Sharad Saxena on Apr 05, 2007 05:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear friends,
In my opinion this is a CREATED DRAMA by BCCI and ZEE to divert the attention of crorers of Indian cricket fans from the poor performance of Indian cricket team

Otherwise how a league can be organised without having basic infrastructure EVEN GROUNDS ????

And with this drama people will forget the world cup and everything will be in control within couple of months when Indian team will defeat Bangladeh on next tour

Regards

This world cup incident should never be forgotten. All the senior under performers have to be sacked and fresh talents have to be brought in from all over India. Unless that is done, we should never forget this world cup debacle.
