Wrong Team Selection
by suryanarayan rao on Apr 06, 2007 10:10 AM

No former captain but still in the team wants the credit of winning important matches to go to a new captain. They just want to improve their records or earn as much as possible. Even if the team is on the verge of winning , they will simply see to it that the team loses. This is called internal jealousy. They want to prove that the selectors are wrong in removing them from captaincy. Former captions should not be taken in the team at all, or a captain should be tested ,if he is still good in batting, to go on till he agrees that he is no good for the job. Secondly before the national team goes for a test or 2-3 zonal matches should be played and if a player consistantly performs then only he should be included in the national team. This helps those new comers in the zonal match to prove their competency and get into the team. Zonal players should be all young budding promising players from a pool of 50.The simple rule should be ,"If you are in form play for the country and do not disgrace the country because of your selfish motive. Let somebody play in your place. Your past experience is of no use if you can not contribute on the testing day". We can atleast copy the Australian selection methods which is exellant and time tested.-By Prof.Rao
