Let's make Mongia coach ! November 2000 report : "Nayan Mongia has been booked for his suspicious conduct during a one-day cricketing encounter with the West Indies. Although India was in with a positive chance to force a win when he went into bat, Mongia, in league with Prabhakar, seemed more intereste d in parading his defensive batting abilities. Mongia has pleaded that he was only following instructions from his team management, though his subsequent omission from the side proves that he was perhaps acting with hidden motives of his own." HAHAHA..I remember that game, I saw it live, its like a culture that is being followed from the time of sunny gavaskar, record books, 100s, 50s mean so much..Ask Ravi Shastri ( I have been watching cricket for ages now), shastri would slow down drastically before 50 and 100, this suckers dont realize that a 90 of 70 ball is better than 102 of 120 balls! (Sachin 90 odd against pak from last world cup is remembered more than so many of his accumulative 100s in indian pitches)

Can you spot one Indian cricketer (past and present) who can be called Mr. Consistent, Mr.Reliable, etc? None to my knowledge. Like all of you, I too have been following this game for years and have never ever seen a back to back game that can be called a classic or an epic. Most of the time it has been a flash in the pan kind of a situation only - one inning wonder if you may call that. Never ever seen a repeat performance at any time. Hence the sheen was never there in the first place with any of our cricketers to say that it has been lost now. These kind of defeats have become part and parcel of our game from the good old days. Legacy lives on. May be it has become worse now.
