Chappel just trying to save himself
by on Mar 28, 2007 02:23 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I think Chappel is just trying to save himself from the harsh criticism that he'll be facing after coming back to India. Thats why he is trying to find a scapegoat. I strongly believe that whatever he said is right, but the timing is not right. Had he said this in his autobiography 10 yrs down the line then it would have been okay.

When Chappel joined the Indian team as a coach couple of yrs back, he tried to impress everyone by giving 'Vision World Cup 2007'. He kept experimenting and kept losing matches. He then safeguarded himself from the criticisms of losing by saying that his main aim is to get world cup for India. Great planning.

Where do we stand after all this, we lost lot of matches in the last 2 yrs as well as didnt qualify for the Super 8s.

Chappel can be forgiven for all his experimentation prior to the World cup but he should not be forgiven for this pathetic performance of the Indian team in the world cup.

Can't help if left parties and pawar weren't patient enough with young players! Huge uproar in parliament resulted in change in team selection. As an Indian Fan I only want that "if we have to loose, we want loose with a young team". There are two advantages - young ones will get required exposure and BCCI can save its back by saying "we fielded a completely inexperienced team".

Dude,
What r u talking. Why do he has to lie. Everyone saw how pathetic the seniors have played. If bob woolmer can't do wonders with pakistan even after working with them for 4 yrs..then how can u expect chappel to do miracles that too with a team which is not his choice. It is something like giving a lame horse to a good jockey and then sacking the jockey just becoz the lame horse didn't win the race. Mind u, chappel has asked for a young horse with fit legs..if not a win atleast it wud have given a fight worth watchful.

You are bang on! Chappel has time and again has asked for young legs. What we gave him was ancient legs who cannot even walk. Forget taking quick singles. they don't even want to play. They just wanted to get out and sit in the dressing room and warm the chairs there. Seniors and Juniors divide is very much in the indian team. We shoudl throw the Seniors out and show them they are despensible and not dependable any more. Our BIG MATCH PLAYER - SACHIN played one BIGGGGG innings against BERMUDA. And got a hundred against his name and a few brand endorsements as well. I do not understand why is he playing now. It's time that he should make way for young guns who are much better than him. Dravid - a good fellow- but good fellow does not win matches. You need to be agressive and if your interpersonal skills are bad, you cannot lead a bunch of 15 players. No one will listen to you. A scenario which is encountered every day by us whether in office of out of office. With Dravid as captain, i do not see India winning matches. Even if you have Dave Whatmore (current coach of Bangladesh) or Viv Richards as coach. It does not make any difference to the indian team. Chappel must be fuming now. But he was very clear with what he wanted as a team. As long as Sehwag was persisted with, India is bound to lose more matches. Kick all the old and ancient legs and get some fresh legs who can atleast run. Even if we lose, it's worth that gamble than playing these old horses!!!

All folks, just answer me one Q, When Mr. Chappel had done no miracle, fetched no output from the young legs, like Kaif, Suresh Raina then hw wd u expect that he can give u dream team full of young players. And I think he is a coach and it shd be his ability to take out the goods from the players but in contrary the players lost wht they knows before, like Pathan. Its a collective failure but Mr coach hv to accept his failure..........
