Now Ravi Shastri is going to be appointed as team's manager. There is a heavy doubt about the capabilities of Shastri as a manager/coach as he has nothing new to offer. As a player he was never comfortable against fast bowling because of his limited strokes. His limited capability as a player casts a huge shadow on the prospects of his performance as a manager/coach.Though he was relatively successful in early 80's but as his style of playing became known to opponent teams his performance deteriorated. That was more apparent during late 80's and during world cup'92 which ultimately resulted into end of his carrear as a player.I think Gavaskar or Amarnath would have a better choice but as we see most of the times in history of Indian cricket,Gavaskar has expressed his non availability and Amarnath would not be choosen because of his straight forwarded nature and his realations with BCCI stalwarts.O.K. lets hope for the better for Indian cricket and expect Shastri to be as aggressive/active as a manager as he used to show during his playing days.

There we go. A nation of carpers cannot even wait for the man to take charge before starting the pull back. Fyi, Shastri has been acknowledged as an astute captain by almost all his contemporary's, and there certainly existed a position for him in the Indian team when he quit. It was the politics of that era that made him leave in disgust. Incidentally, while his cricketing style might be about overcoming relative lack of talent by sheer grit, his captaincy record is impeccable. Both qualities our team and its prima donnas need aplenty right now.

You spoke right. Why cant we even wait for the man to take charge before we accuse him of something?
There are a lot of famous names who are throwing their hat in the ring but it wont matter if players dont step up instead of doing the 'poor me ' routine.

Don't at all remeber, when Shatri was the captain. Once only he captained India in a test when kapil was not playing due to (forgot) some reasons.
