Nuclear power provides only 2 percent electricity. It does not matter for the electricity production if these will be shut. Nuclear plants are really for the production of nuclear weapons, electricity is just a by-product. USA wants to roll back India's nuclear weapons programme. This is the real issue.

Read Hyde Act, NSG regulations, IAEA treaty, Fussion cutoff treaty; these are all compenents of the 123 Treaty. Putting all together India will not be allowed to import any technology or materials to manufacture nuclear weapons. FBR, and other facilities producing weapons grade materials will be under the IAEA regulations. IAEA asked India to sign as a non-nuclear weapons state.

Prem, cool it ji, the truth is always bitter, the ground reality is US stpped putting up new plants after the three island disaster in 1977. Then why alone they wanna force India for a civilian nuke deal.... Lets face the music, the american companies(nuke plant manufaturing) are forcing their GOVT to get this deal thru for their interest...and DR.MMS is playing the Tune..... nice music.... even 1% cut hmmmmmmmmm
