Its time
by Mona Shah on Jun 17, 2008 12:37 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It is perhaps time for india to grant independence to J&K, gorkhaland & other north eastern states demanding independence, khalistan & any other state / province asking for independence.

It is right of everyone to ask for independence.

What an idea. Grant independence to everyone. Tamils will say to have a separate tamil country. Marathis for a new maratha country, J&K, Gorkhaland. Why to leave bihar, UP, Jharkhand? They would come up for their own coutry (and separate from India as they have the most minerals, mines etc). Thus, 'India' would be a word of past. Thats what ppl like you want?

Mona Shah, it is encouraging to notice that you have stopped to read this article and that the problems in the hills have effected you in some way.
But it has to be pointed out to you that you have certain misunderstandings.
The movement in Kashmir is for the demand of a separate country , away from India. So is the case of Khalistan.
But this is not the same with the Gorkhas. They are demanding a separate state within Indian, just away from Bengal. They are just sick and tired with the underdeveloped conditions in the hills.

Yes you are correct Mona.. India doesn't exist in the minds of Indians. They are now Gujjars, gorkhas, Marathis, tamils, Bengalis.. So whats the big deal.. give away everyone what they want.. We already had a partition based on religion and now based on ethnicity.. good going.. Bharat mata ki jai.. mera bharat mahan..
