Reservations need restructuring
by IMRAN MOHAMMED on Jun 16, 2008 12:49 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Reservations have lost purpose in recent years. True that there are sections of the society that are marginalized due to their financial inabilities, however reservations based on religion (muslims), caste (Gurjar) certainly have to be done away with. Instead identify those who need help irrespective of religion and caste and provide them necessary assistance in the form of access to education, health services etc.

Lets us consider the following example:
A Family consists for Five Members= The Nation
Father or Mother = The Government
1st Child is the CEO of a business entity drawing a salary of Rs. 1,00,000 per month.= Rich OBC/ST etc
2nd child is an accountant in a bank drawing a salary of Rs. 15,000 per month= middle class OBC/ST etc.
3rd child can hardly meet his daily needs= Poor of the OBC etc.
Now does the Government need to dole out a package for the entire family or just the last child?
