The deal is good but the fact is we dont need it. The nuke deal is going to benefit US,Russia and France as they would sell reactors and technology....for countries like Australia they will benefit by selling uranium.....but for India we spend $80 billion and would be meet only additional 5-6% of energy needs that too the energy starts flowing only after 7-8 yrs from now.ITS GOOD BUT NOT WORTH IT.
Why dont the govt invest the money for hydro electric projects, thermal power projects and other alternative sources like wind energy and solar energy when we have such huge coal reserves. The whole world is moving towards that and we want to go the opposite direction. Only the politician will make a killing out of it by way of huge kick backs and what common man would get is electricity at very high prices and potentially unsafe spent fuel to deal with.
If nuke energy is so good then why hasnt US built a single new reactor in last 20 years and gone for other forms of energy generation for meeting needs?????
No point in fighting whether deal is good or bad, the question is whether it is worth it????

Nuclear energy is in McCain's plan. US has abundant coal and coal mines are to be supported too. US does not need nuclear plants but when coal gets expensive and/or its environmental impact is unbearable, US will move to nuclear power too.

ok, you don't need it ... fine. you get yourself a gobar gas plant or take sanyaas from developed society which needs energy for survival and development. yes, you have a generator for your electric needs but the nation pays for oil import and will pay less for uranium import. Nuclear energy does not produce green house gases (carbon dioxide) and so is better for the enviroment.
where does maneka gandhi go, when the nation needs her?

That the problem with people like you....always look west to see what is good rather having an independent view. You think having nuclear plants will make us developed nation.....GROW UP, we already have those.
For your knowledge Maneka Gandhi would be voting against the UPA.

It is you who needs to GROW UP .... in your blind faith in BJP, you forget the national interest .... tomorrow, if BJP accepts the same agreement, ignorant people like you will be singing this agreement's praises ... you will call it a deal of the lifetime.
Maneka Gandhi should vote for the nuclear deal as it is environmentally friendly,

BJP has no stand on any issue ... they are flip floppers .. tehy say one thing and then they change to another thing based on how they view and who they view as their vote bank
BJP plays vote bank politics ... they woo muslims while praising Jinnah while on visit to a country that sponsors terrorism in India.
They sent Kalam to rashtrapati bhawan in their attempt to woo muslims.

15-07-2008 Hindustan Times has given as to how Uranium mines of jarkhand have been misused and abandoned. The ores are discarded causing pollution. They also point out that from the last two decades we have not done any activity to get Uranium from these mines and depending only on outsiders. So what is the matter and why are we purchasing from NSG or not utlizing but throwing our Uranium ores? All these are highly classified but HT has reported means it cannot be false. Atomic Energy Act of India has kept any matter relating to Atomic Energy not to be available to the public. It is highly secretive. Still then Hindustan Times have been able to get the truth or information abut non or underutilization of our Uranium. Not utilizing is a different issue than discarding because US and Russia are not utilizing their oil and they have huge reserve below their soil.

I think it is a rotten deal. We should exhaust all other alternative means for producing energy like biogas, wind energy, tidal wave energy from our vast coastline, biofuels from pongamia tree and jojoba shrub, solar energy etc. If our scientists could concentrate on using solar power to run a PC that would save a lot of energy. Also we should ban fuel inefficient cars. Unfortunately we don't have any worthy leaders today. only bootlickers.

i'll oppose any money directly invested towards country's development. why can't that money be shared among our political leaders, instead? it's them after all looking after the interest of the country. in the end, if they feel like donating some money out of their share, they can do so for the betterment of country - but first the country must make sure that our strong political leaders are happy. let's change the way our politics is done.

Isnt congress doing that too....loan waiver and appeasement policies are that not sharing the loot of public money instead of good governance.

when farmers die or commit suicide, BJP blames govt. of not doing anything .. when their loans are waived, they again blame the govt.
so, all BJP wallahs do is blame the govt. BJP leadership has no solution but they are themselves part of the problem.
BJP will want to keep the nation backward ... b ut congress will take it ahead as it has done.

Good so is the congress going to send cheques to dead farmers. The fund should go to farmers in need and not a blanket waiver to all as if sharing a loot.
By the way have you ever paid a rupee as taxes to feel the pinch of money going waste.
