Deal is good but we dont need it
by Jitesh Kumar Agrawal on Jul 15, 2008 09:58 PM

The deal is good but the fact is we dont need it. The nuke deal is going to benefit US,Russia and France as they would sell reactors and technology....for countries like Australia they will benefit by selling uranium.....but for India we spend $80 billion and would be meet only additional 5-6% of energy needs that too the energy starts flowing only after 7-8 yrs from now.ITS GOOD BUT NOT WORTH IT.

Why dont the govt invest the money for hydro electric projects, thermal power projects and other alternative sources like wind energy and solar energy when we have such huge coal reserves. The whole world is moving towards that and we want to go the opposite direction. Only the politician will make a killing out of it by way of huge kick backs and what common man would get is electricity at very high prices and potentially unsafe spent fuel to deal with.

If nuke energy is so good then why hasnt US built a single new reactor in last 20 years and gone for other forms of energy generation for meeting needs?????

No point in fighting whether deal is good or bad, the question is whether it is worth it????
