National Interest Vs Election Interest
by Dev R on Jul 10, 2008 10:53 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

BJP thinks early election will benefit them because of the Inflation. If the election will be as per the schedule (April next year), inflation will come to a control by that time and BJP will not able to make it as issue.

So it make sense of BJP to go against this deal (which political party in India has real National interest after all).

well said. if they support then congress will gain and if bjp opposes they lose the support of middle class. so only inflation will come to their rescue. BJP is in catch 22 situation. No political party in India has real National interest after all as u said.

Dev R,
Reading you mail many on this board will smile! But one man who would laugh at you would be our FM, Chidambaram. Even in his sweetest dreams he doesn’t expect that inflation will come down. By April 2009, inflation will still be 12% and the effect will felt in everything that the aam adhmi buys.
Why then is BJP pushing so hard ....because poor LK Advani hopes he can be PM one day earlier!

By the way in which democracy does the Opposition pitch in to support the Ruling party to survive a confidence vote!

Even Amar Singh thinks that if today elections are held, BJP will win. So he says that he supported the deal becoz he wanted to keep "communal forces" out.

In reality, he has got many backroom negotiations for his Reliance friends as well as hushing up of cases against himself and Mulayam.

When the elections are held eventually, he will not be able to suppress the people's verdict, which he is trying to do now.
