PRESSURE ON OUR PM
by Jasad Dusty on Jul 09, 2008 05:43 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I recently visited USA for business, had around ten thousand US dollars with me, being scared of mugging and robbery I opened an account with a well known bank in the US and deposited the amount. After paying all expenses and bills I had still around five thousand US dollars left in my account. I let them remain there thinking they will be useful to me on my next visit.

Hardly had six months passed when I received a notification from the bank as follows:

“WE ARE PROVIDING YOU WITH THIS IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION BECAUSE OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO ACTIVITY IN YOUR ACCOUNT, AS A RESULT, YOUR ACCOUNT MAY SOON BECOME SUBJECT TO THE ABANDONED PROPERTY LAW OF YOUR STATE OF RESIDENCE. THIS LAW REQUIRES BANKS TO TRANSFER TO THE STATE THE BALANCES IN ACCOUNTS IN WHICH THERE HAVE BEEN NO DEPOSITS, WITHDRAWALS OR WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM YOU”.

One can well imagine how these sharks must have pestered and pressurized our poor Prime Minister to sign up on the nuclear deal until he gave in to their demands.

Your desperation reflects you are emasculated by the growth of the MAN called MODI.

The discussion should be on the Nuke deal, CPI/M (Chinnna Most worthy servants) rather than MODI.

You will face further Desperation in the time to come.

Best Of Luck.

No, I am not emasculated by Modi, I want him to be the Prime Minister of India because only a man like Modi will unite the Muslims and bring them together on one platform and talk with one voice. Please remember, it was the threats from fascists that united the Muslims and made it easy for Jinnah to get his Pakistan.

The writer may be making up this story .... I was in US for almost 6 years and currently, I am in India from last 3 years .... I still hold an US account without any activities ..... Didn't face any issue till now though the laws may be differ from state to state ..... Six months is a absurdly low for me to believe the story !!!

You should have read the T&C properly before opening the bank account. Even in India if you dont operate the bank account for some time, you account gets frozen. Atleast they were courtous enough to send you a letter.

Are you aware that the same rule applies in our Banks as well? I had to forefiet around Rs. 500/- in SBI Madgaon branch as I got transferred from there. This is almost universal rule. You can of course get back your money, but it takes a lot of pains explaining why you did not use it. Why don't you do some online transactions? Alternatively you can also transfer you money to India using any of the bank's online facilities.

Yeh, they do obey the law when it is in their interest, otherwise they bombard nations with F16 and Appache helicopters and snatch away the wealth of poor nations. American is the only nation which has some or the other interest in every corner of the world.
