this STUPID BOLOARD always yanks on rediff forums quoting some websites which proclaim that Islam is the mother of all sciences - he is pathetically laughable! his favorite ambassador for validating islamic contribution is i guess Jimmy Carter - the same guy whom the ayatollah had called Enemy of Islam - pity, he couldn't search for a better ambassador, huh!
Anyway, the whole world knows that the islamic invasion of mid-east was the death for culture, arts, science ! these invaders in india destroyed our great temples of somnath and varanasi, they ravaged taxila university - to call this tribal creed as fountainheads of science is nothing short of blasphemy ...
Lokk at the quran and you will find umpteen instances of non-scientific gibberish, u want me to give examples??
even look today across the universities of the world: indian/hindu students are making remarkable strides as research scholars, scientists, engineers - Look at places like Bell Labs, Microsoft, Apple, filled with indians who have an intellectual tradition and ethos, supported by our ancient holy textbooks which contain the foundation of modern astronomy, vedic maths, ayurveda, physics, molecular biology, and so on ... not an arabic creed whose prophet's actions can be considered despicably atrocious : to have a member of that community pointing out its scientific legacy to us is abominable to say the least !!
So Stupid Bolard - go and take these rants to some madrasah, not here !

YOU ARE YUR OWN COMPETITOR IN STUPIDITY, AND YOU MANAGE TO SURPRISE ME YET AGAIN!! answer in context here - the question is regarding the scientific ethos of islam - ehich i contend is non-existent ! you point out a commentary book which cannot be considered SEMINAL, plus i see 2 people endorsing the book and you qualify it as "endorsed by all leading science historians"
stop this hyperbolic sel-congratulations and point out to me 3 seminal contributions of islam, dare?? btw, first check the meaning of seminal , you STUPID

Mr. balaord, I have checked the site you mentioned. It seems that your link is to MIT Press (it is like the Oxford University Press - a Publishing House) and not the university. They will publish any book that has a potential for sale!
Your claim is like Indian Hindus claiming Mr. Srinavasa Ramanujan as their own when in fact the brahmin priests had refused to conduct his last rites as he had gone to UK and lost his "dharam" due to crossing the Seas!!!!!!1
