I though a staunch Marathi, support the Idea of unification of Maharashtra and Gujarat? It will be richest nation in the world? Mumbai is progressive only because of partriotic and peace loving Marathis? Imagine if we behave like Assamese or Bengalis? Why no other city in the country has developed like Mumbai. In addition, maharashtra has many metros like, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, Solapur, and so on. Which state in the country has so many big cities?

Because britishers made this city big, they loved, to live on sea shores,they founded it and dreamed it, How many cities you developed other than Mumbai. All UP and Biharis did labour work and make it big, see your film industry, most of big Directors and actors are from punjab and UP.

dont live in fantasy land the states in india that wanted to seperate from india like assam, northeast etc were crushed to a pulp despite insurgencies for decades there is a very strong security system to keep states in place. this wont happen even 100 years from now

Dear Dinakar, Even in 1985 Bangalore was not a big city but have you seen todays Bangalore( ofcourse there are problems I accept ) Also, In Karnataka we have Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad. And TN has Chennai, Coimbatore, Tripur, Salem etc it is not that only MH has improved Tier-2 cities. And I totally agree that MH is what it is today because of patriotic and peace loving marathis. Mumbai is the biggest slum of the world :-) In India, Mumbai is a much overrated city. Sorry....but this is a bitter truth.

I wish so. It's not the fault of the city...but the people and their attitude. A woman is raped in Mumbai every 2 days.....How can you justify MUMBAI is the greatest city! We are living in a world of paradox.
