The past few days, the newspapers, blogs, and editorials have talked about the recent terrorism in india. That has left me with an incomplete feeling. People, who do read these articles, perhaps are not even remotely associated with the “attacking”, but are definitely the ones “attacked”. Every one of us is a victim because the blasts, the terror, have ripped us of our peace in more than one ways. We are the victims and the word “victims” haunts. Its haunts because a leaves a feeling of helplessness, and lack of hope within. And it haunts because it’s us who are to be blamed.
We talk of moral values, how we shouldn’t fight for religion, or God, or caste or anything for that matter. We talk about what “they” have done, and how “they” shouldn’t have. And we rationalize, and talk diplomatically; we say “we shouldn’t fight like this”, we say “ we should respect humanity” , we say “the innocent shouldn’t suffer”. But are you and me the ones who went around bombing the nation? Then why unite our names with those who don’t belong to us, those who have no race creed or religion? Those ,who should lose all empathy and be mercilessly punished. But until then, lets talk about “us”. We are equally to be blamed, if we live in fear. The need of the hour, is “unity”. As idealistic as this sounds, there is nothing better to combat the power of terrorism, except t

We are equally to be blamed, if we live in fear. The need of the hour, is “unity”. As idealistic as this sounds, there is nothing better to combat the power of terrorism, except the power of us. What can beat their immense motivation to destroy the nation, or any part of the world for that matter, is plainly and simply, the power of “us”. And again, clichéd as it may sound, but “united we stand divided we fall”. We are still in majority, and further still in minority. What we need to talk about, is not the morals. Certainly, dying morals is an issue, but there is no point trying to get across to those souls who have a dead conscience. For those of us who can see in hear, its time to come together. We need to stop addressing them, and start addressing our selves. Lets start with small initiatives : like not turning a blind eye to any injustice that we see in a our day to day lives ; by not being tempted to take or give bribes for insincerity is betrayal in its own way, by helping when even strangers are in need ; by abiding by law; by following civic rules. The university has us checked each day now, from i-cards to bags , and vehicles are parked at a distance from the main buildings. The least we can do is to vow to keep up the discipline. Yesterday, the watchman refused to check the i-cards saying he “dint have orders from higher authorities”; in these trying times he is still waiting for “orders” and “grumbling” that he has to stand there checking each student; Let’s vow to

Let’s vow to use common sense. We have to stop feeling “comfortable” with ourselves, tucked in , in the comforts of our homes; if that we think as security, then its time to realize that the comfort won’t last if we continue to live this way. Today it’s someone else, and terrorism is something that happens to “others”, but soon it will happen to us. And then we will have no one to turn to because all would have gone by then and all would be gone by then. Today when we are all still there, lets unite ;if not to prove them wrong, then at least to prove us right! Say, Let the media cover more about those who have come forward to help than about how the terror has torn us. And say, we add a tinge of strength with the media covering an entire nation making a chian of holding hands ; idealistic as it sounds, it might just work out! And there’s no harm in trying!:)

You've been asking people to get out of the false sense of comfort and face up to reality. But you yourself haven't mentioned Islamic terrorism even once in your long write-up. The time for being politically correct is long past. We are faced with a stark choice : either be politically incorrect and survive or continue to be politically correct and die.

we have to weed out the terrorists, not unite with them, these terrorists belong to one community which calls itself the only true religion, uniting with them is not the way to destroy terrorism
