DO WE STILL CALL INDIA A SECULAR COUNTRY?
by neo on Apr 10, 2008 07:31 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

if we do, and follow the reservation pattern based on caste and religion, i think we are the biggest HYPOCRITE. one suggestion, wipe out the word SECULARISM from the Indian Constitution, before we go ahead and implement the reservations. isn't it stupid to mention caste and religion on any government application form. i dont understand what kind of people have written the constitution, and what kind follow it so blindly

and do you have any base of calling yourself secular, or you have just read too many patriotic books.
and what makes you think that OBC are considered as some outcast. do you even consider caste while making friends, while travelling in public transport, the waiter in a hotel is of what cast? no, then why consider the cast thing here.

friend,
i'll ask in ulta. why can't u help that waiter to come upto ur level. without giving him an opportunity he will remain an waiter. more than 50% is still there for open category. think positive. if there is no inclusive growth, poor will get frustrated with the system and start disturbing its fundamentals.

that's exactly what i'm trying to say, give the waiter an equal opportunity. now the real question is... we give him opportunity on the bases of caste? or on the basis of his financial health?
what do you say, give reservation to poor or someone of a OBC caste?
please, wake up? are you still living in stone age? gone are the days when there was this clear cut equation.. OBC = poor. things change and so the rules also

Secular country because the country does not support any religion,
Reservation is for the people who are underprevileged who were denied equal status in socity because of the caste system that was in force in our socity for thousands of years.
Dont get cofused with secularism and reservation for the underprevileged people of the society.

what kind of support are you talking about, how do you define support? and since when the equation hold true that: if you are OBC = you are underprivileged.
this equation might hold true thousands of years back, not now.. or do you still think it does?
