We the greatest beneficieries of His leadership have forgotten his ideals completely and pay just lip service for selfish motives. It is time we revive his teachings both in letter and spirit to save the country from disaster and doom specially from our present day money driven politicians.

MK Gandhi was a nice person but, I don't think he was a good leader. If you look back to our freedom fighting days, its true from many peoples' biographies that Gandhi was eccentric, demanding, filled with ego, dictatorial, manipulative and always tried to suppress the people who wanted to come up. Also it is true that through-out his freedom struggle, he always pleased the Muslim brothers. He never payed any homage to leaders like Bhaghat Singh, SC Bose. He was very much determined in his work, but he has used that for both good and bad means. So, that way, Gandhi was(is) an ordinary man. It was SC Bose who called Gandhi as Bapu / Father of Nation. But, unfortunately, Gandhi never honoured SC Bose! so poor politics!!!

Well....any person has his faults....Gandhi had his....and I don't completely accept your view points.
1) He didn't do anything for Bhagat Singh though he could have. He said that doing something would have meant supporting violence. I agree that this was wrong because Bhagat Singh's intention was to wake up Britishers to reality of India, not to kill anybody, but then Bhagat Singh was hanged for Kakori case, where his group looted arms and ammunition, killing British soldiers. This was wrong.
2) SC Bose believed in taking the support of Hitler for India's independence. Gandhi believed that Hitler is as much a problem as British. And infact much more. So he didn't support SC Bose. But I agree that he was somewhere egoistic in ensuring Congress didn't support him as president.
3) Gandhi was not involved in pleasing anybody, least of all Muslims. The fact is that he was against Partition, but Jinnah and Nehru ensured that it occurred. He just wanted violence to end because in his own words ' An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind'.
4) Finally, he was not dictatorial. The fact is he believed in panchayats being most powerful, followed by state and then central govt's being least powerful. We introduced an opposite concept. Moreover, Gandhi was against cities because he thought city people were cut off from their culture and could be communalised easily, and this is true as most of riots have taken place in cities. He wanted villages to be at forefront.

why baghat singh? you can mention hundreds of individuals like that which has no logic. Gandhi's work is to earn freedom for indian people using non-violence method.. How much he succeeded...whether any other would have done better is the question.. ofcourse we have to conclude that GANDHI was god sent to get the freedom for india in the most appropriate manner setiing example to the entire universe.

bhagat loves freedom and love is blind. he just wants nation to wake up and for that he decided to to go for dead , u know nothing like that happened.why bhagat has not escaped after bombing in the assembly? why he had not go for the mercy appeal? he has done whatever he wants to do, gandhiji is not involved in bhagats any deed.gandhiji has told him to send mercy appeal the young will be needed to construct the nation. watever bhagat has done is right i respect him alot but nothing happened as he was thinking.

Look...we have to think again wen we say against gandhiji. You think Sardar Patel, Netaji etc were so great, patriot n all...n yes they indeed were..they dont need our approval for that. But just give a thought on.." Why were so great n patriot people loved, followed n respected gandhiji...??" Isnt this reason enough for us to have known that gandhiji was greater in some extent than them...!!Netaji's protest against bapu was based on ideological differences.

Gandhi was not a political leader as we understand the words today-he was basically a social leader who got used by Nehru and Patel. As for his pleasing the muslims goes he was indebted to them from South Africa itself where rich Gujrati Muslims helped and financed his endeavour.
