The spirit of the Olympics which the author talks about is for the most part given way to a hideously competitive spirit of national sport participiation. It is this spirit which determines which country will host the Olympics. China thus lays claim by virtue of its medals tally and its nationally mobilised sports infrastructure along military lines. For all practical purposes, the Olympics have become a huge money spinning opportunity. The Tibetan Unrest has a huge economic cost if it is seen to dent the revenues from the Games, so it has to be stamped out with the customary Chinese brutality and probably will. The history Olympics will add another dark chapter of brutal Tibetan suppression like the Munich Olympiad -of Palestinian Terror

Are you saying this to lend urself an excuse for the fact that, up till today, India has failed to win a single Gold Medal in the Olympic Games? You are really good at self-deceiving. Pathetic really. Get a life!

Hi Ye,
Do you know your own history? Search about Tiananmen Square and uprising in Biejing University that was brutually supressed by Chinese army. Search about them in Google sitting in your own country...you will never find them...painted green and censored by chinese officials...you will never know truth about your own country...you just know the official version of chinese government....wakeup and know about yourself...

india isnt good at sports. agreed. we dont invest anywhere close to what chinese do. the chinese government "produces" athletes at will. if indians arent intersted, big deal. we will excel elsewhere.
we arent "told" to be athletes. our government doesnt fund massive amounts of money to produce athletes by hook or by crook. drugs, masking et al.
