Lord Rama a Caring husband?
by Ashwin Asani on Sep 27, 2007 02:10 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I was just wondering why the article says Lord Rama is a caring husband. Is there not an instance in Ramayana that Sita is asked/volunteers to walk through fire to prove her purity. If Lord Rama is an all knowing GOD, should he not stop such activity and his word should just suffice when he would say that his wife IS pure.
If I am to follow Lord Rama's example, am I also expected to make/allow my wife go through tests in front of other people?

Thanks for your response. Is one good enough to overlook another bad? I can be a macho husband and fight twenty thugs but in another place do something contrary to that character. Is that justified. Its a genuine clarification I need and am not trying to mock anyone. You need to try and understand that.

dear ashwin,
even if u try you cannot mock the lord. dont have such grave misgivings.
secondly to understand the concept behind agnipariksha, brains are required. it was NOT to denigrate sita,it was to redeem her honour.
If your wife is kidnapped and kept by bandits for 2 years and then she comes back..YOU WILL CLIMB THE ROOF OF YOUR HOUSE AND SHOUT ON LOUDSPEAKER THAT SHE IS STILL UNTOUCHED.
Otherwise YOU wont touch her brother.
pretend as much as you want, but we all know the truth, dont we?

@ Ashwin

If you are a true seeker, then go back a few pages and some of the answers are in a long post that i copied and pasted, from Swami Chinmayananda on the Vedantic significance of the Ramayana.

If not, then only you can help yourself come out of ignorance and derision.

First of all, before making comments on any thing, one should have thorough knowledge about the same. Before making such childish comments, better read Ramayana and understand the real values of life. I feel even if you read also, you will not understand a single Character in the Epic because you must be a child or Polititian.Only polititians thinks about their vote Bank and nothing else, even they are ready to sell/donate their Spouse/Children

Ur ignorance speaks loud. If you don't know complete Ramayana than don't raise Questions..
Rama has give Sita to Angidev when they entered forest as he was knowing whats going to happen.. Once everything was settled, he take her back. It was even shown in Ramayana on DD-I..
dude you should learn something before commenting on Ram..
Hey Ram, u are destined for Hell for sure. I can't even imagine how can one think like this against his own god..
