Build a DEEP CANAL on the Dhanushkodi peninsula. A thin slice of SEA, cutting the Land just before DHANUSHKODI. The width of the CANAL is 1 mile. Then you can dredge all you want in that CANAL.
The problem will be SOLVED without violating the RAMA-HANUMAN SETHU.

dear, the problem is not that they want the way for the ships to pass.
the problem is that thwey want to win the confidence of minorities and thus win the elections

Let them try winning the elections after hurting the sentiments of 800 Millions Hindus.

On the other HAND MY PROPOSAL WILL SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS. Canaling the DHANUSHKODI peninsula is NOT difficult at all. Check the map again and look at the THINNEST part on Dhanushkodi peninsula.
