  RE:DV Act is needed
by dOtherSide on Oct 26, 2007 07:18 PM   Permalink
What bullshit!!...There are enough and more laws in the Indian Penal code which can be used by such women to tackle their problems. This in no way gives equality.I might sound like a chauvinist but this is another one of them Bullshit laws which gives men hardly any say in domestic matters in India.
Think of it.Who in the hell is targetted for such a law.Is it the lower class people who face such issues and still keep mum about it.Or is it the middle class in which women are usually given equal say in matters these days.Think of the future and think big India.Think about equal rights for all, men and women, Hindu or Muslim should be treated alike under law.My views, and may each man have his own..cheers

Extent of Domestic Violance

The law is one sided and in the present day urban environment Woman exploit it to harrass husbands/male associates for a ransom if they do not yield to the woman's unjust demands or action including adultary.
The law should be both sided. There are cases where woman want to lead independant life and mix with men for flirtation or and sexual relationship even if they are married. If the husband or male associate objects to these acts, the woman can inflict self injury and file a case against the husband/male associate under this law and may get the male partner penalised even if they are innocent.
Either there should be another law or in place of "woman"/wife it should be ammended as "spouse"
