What does Digvijay Singh mean when he says Congress represents Gandhian ideology? Which Gandhi is he referring to. I am sure its not Mahatma Gandhi. It may be any or all of the Gandhis that ruled as PMs or super-PMs and the only ideology they represent is dictatorship and corruption. The cheap mindset gets exposed when he says that we now have our president, vice president as well as PM. Is the president and vice president supposed to belong to a particular party? I always thought that he is supposed to be above party lines once he becomes president. Regards nuclear deal, he still shamefully keeps repeating this lie that we have not compromised our sovereignty in signing the deal. The deal makes unambiguously clear that the deal does not override Hyde act and Atomic Energy Act (1953) of USA. Both these acts are emphatic in that there should be no nuclear co-operation with India if India does a nuclear test.

Vinamra..Good that you appreciate this as a genuine concern. But you say its a domestic act that we can't change. True..but we also have our domestic concerns because of which we may some time in the future want to withdraw the unilateral moratorium on further tests and exercise our sovereign right to test more nukes- say because of China or Pakistan becoming more hostile. In such a scenario, 1. hyde act mandates the US government to withdraw out of this 123 deal. 2. 123 deal mandates India to return all the fissile material already used or stocked up and all the equipment purchased in the past if the deal gets voided. 3. 123 deal also brings India under the purview of IAEA safeguards ad infinitum even if 123 deal were to be totally voided.

This effectively helps USA to completely cap and reverse India's strategic nuclear plans. Something that they failed to do using NPT and CTBT since last 30 years, they would be successful doing using this carrot called 123-agreement. Yes we would be able to add some 4-5 GWatts to our current 120 Gwatts capacity by 2016. But are we willing to compromise our sovereignty for that?

Your reply itself appears like a kneejerk reaction to my comment by an emotional fool. I have raised an important concern regards the details of 123 Agreement. A sane reaction to this by a not so emotional wise man would have been to point out how my concern is misplaced. You have not done that. I wish I were born amongst wiser people!
