First of all, I m not a Brahmin. Now My question is who generally harras Dalits? 100yrs back, yes mostly those were brahmins but today?? In Andhra, Reddy, In Maharashtra,mostly marathas, In North, Mostly thakurs. Last year, In maharashtra, a dalit family was killed in small villege, khairlanji.Not a single brahmin was involved in that. But u see/listen any of Dalit or all non brahmin leaders, they will attack only on brahmin cast for castism. In today's scenario,Brahmins don't have political presence much. If u consider, whole India, percentage wise they are lesser in goverment jobs. So how come this cast can influence/dominence on others?
See, in the society, castism exists. The non brahmin leaders take benefit from it if something wrong happens then they always blame Brahmins. About Dalit leaders, its a life long opportunity. Just attack on brahmin cast and control dalit votes and enjoy Kursi/ministership.
and poor dalits,they continue to live in slums and gets cheated/harrassed from some non brahmin dominent cast

Dear friends almost every community illtreats dalits what to do?.voiceless and strgnthless people.They dont have good leaders.

varghese, many christians still use caste (eg: syrian christians).. banning caste is not realistic.. instead ban reservation based on caste, and have it based on economic criteria

Muslims came and forcefully tried to convert Hindu India!At max they could convert 5% of population that too forcefully!Remembers Dalits were poorer than today!Still they continued their beleif/religion.Then came Christian missinories...in alliance with East India co and later British govt,looted this country for 200yrs and poured money like anything to convert Hindu India!! At best,they could convert few tribal pockets..that too pouring so much money!! Now see these people like Varghese...claiming and adoring Missionaries!!! Tell me if Christians are better off today even after they were converted some 100-150yrs ago??? No..simply they got free bread and wine for few initial years!!After that nothing..must have given back Church 1000times back donation!! So please stop talking shit Mr.Verghese..your words might make tribals and Poors! Religion has nothing to do with economics...stop balming Hindu religion for the plight of Dalits... Africans were converted and made slave for western households!!Please justify why Church/Christianity is not responsible for that!!!

Good point...but still Brahmins are the root cause of the illtreatment of Dalits. If not for generations of segregation and discrimination of SC and ST in India by the Brahmins through their vedas they wouldn't be in the state today. For 1000s of years, they kept education out of these innocents and violated almost all ethics of human rights. Today educated urban brahmins may be innocent but still in most villages the so called low class caste individuals are left with no option except to do the family work (the work the caste was supposed to do according to the vedas!!). That is cobblers child becomes a cobbler, a scavenger's kid becomes a scavenger a tribal continues to be a tribal.

Branhims stopped Dalits to get educated!!Firstly which education you are talking about!They didnot have schooling system like today wherein you pass out and then apply for jobs!! In those days education didnot ensure somebody the Job.Job was entirely different thing that education. Brahmins whom you blame that didnot educated people...i am asking you what they got themselves with education?In all periods besides few Brahmins who were ministers in the court of Kings were themselves poorer than Dalits!!!Dalits had jobs to do at least..Brahmins were beggers!!!!Isnot it? But overall it was work oriented society wherein no job was considered lowly!Not even begging!Would you like to beg to run some school today?? All Casts were divided as per the jobs available to the society and indeed we didnot have problems of unemployment in Ancient Hindu society because of non-education. Vaishyas...even didnot go to school and educated and they have always remained rich section..(Richer than Brahmins) So get out of political mindset taught by Congress and parties after independence just to get concentrated votes from Dalits! Even after 60yrs of independence what education and social upliftment we have given to Dalits?? Visit rural india and you will have true picture! Instead if govt of india would have put efforts to development of small scale villege industries ..Dalits would have been better off! Learn from china!!
