Left LEFT Lajja!
by Krish Koundy on Nov 27, 2007 07:36 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I read Lajja. Her account of Oppression of religious minorities is much milder compared to the contempt poured by media on Hindus in this country. Hindus were 15 percent of the population in 1970s. Now reduced to 04 percent or less. Most of them are killed or forcibly converted in to Islam. I visited Dakeswari temple in Dhaka (named after Dakeswari) first time in 1994. This is the most important temple for Hindus in Bengal. It was a big temple then with lot of space. By 2001 all that space if occupied now, approach to the temple made very difficult. Hindus who go to the temple are teased by way siders and as a result Hindu woman stopped going there. After Babri (not even a mosque) structure demolished, thousands of small and big temples were demolished in Bangladesh. As we still cry over Babri here, temples are demolished every day in Bangladesh and Pakisthan. Taslima is targeted mainly for highlighting the plight of Hindus. See what happened to her?

Its time pseudo secularists are shouted down to assert the rights for all but not just for minorities.

from Sylhet, Bangladesh --------------
You stated that 'Taslima is targeted for highlighting the plight of the Hindus'.This is not correct. I am a Hindu from Bangladesh. We have many strengths. We have many weakneses and limitations. The plight of the Hindus in Bangladesh is better circulated by the country's secular media. The secular nature of the intelligentsia of the country is another strong pillar of protection for the Hindus or any other minority community. Taslima has never been a true campaigner of the crisis in BD. She is an individualist. She is a publicity-prone writer. Her writings are more pro-sex than anything else. Her writings suffer from informative genuinity. She tries to promote conjugal indiscipline. She married in plural times and at present lives a separated life. She familarises with many and takes advantage of the 'agreed intimacy'. After a period of time, she tries to document the intimate proceedings in her writings and embarrass the concerned person or persons. The Indians have not known her. The Indians have not known the real problems of the Hindus in Bangladesh. It would have been much better for the Indian Government to take some ailing talented writers from remote corners of the country to All India Institute of Medical Science in Delhi for treatment with the money they are spending behind Taslima. We may be a poor country from the point of view of 'resources' but India is a poor country from the point of view of 'taste'.

Where from did you get these facts? Thousands of mosques also demolished and are being demolished in India. So don't comment one sided please. THERE IS NO SENSE IN COMMUNAL HATRED. WE ALL ARE HUMAN BEINGS AND BELIEVE IN ONE GOD.

Regarding Taslima Nasrin find out about her past. Then you will feel ashamed yourself in deed.

And the pseudo secularists like Sonia, Karunadhi, Karat,Yachaury, Lallu, Mullayam, Jayanthi Natarajan, Dr. Abdullah, and host of others would not kept quite if a small dammge is done in real masque in India. The english press liked TOI, HINDU etc would have done wide coverage for these protest. The TEHELKA could have done several sting operatioins.

When a disused structure was demolished, which was repeated called as babri masjid later, we had so much of noise. We can immagine the noise otherwise.
