SNAFUs and nothing else !

Situation normal but all fouled up ! I have thoroughly enjoyed the readers' views.
Pl understand that communication is the best form of resolving differences.
If they have written, let us also communicate more effectively (especially when a lot of Govt. officials and peoples' representatives go and mingle with their counterparts in USA).
The core issues are:
1.India does not see Iran as a terrorist nation;Iran might have angered USA on many occassions.
2.It will be foolish for us to align with USA in such La Mancha moves.Just watch Mr John Major's personal disconfiture when he perpetuated "WMD" story in Iraq.
3.If USA takes a short-term view of walking out of 123 or other economic coperations, let that be.We have ,in fact, suffered such wrong decisions in past. But with a rising India, USA will be a great loser.

At the end of it,the Indian political tamasha is very much worth enjoying.Who knows tomorrow, some cleric may order fatwah on the poor Congressmaen !

Sanjay, good thought process. However, while I partly disagree with you regarding Iran. Whether or not Iran is exporter of terrorism, it's definitely a rough state and does not merit to have weapons of mass destruction. Please recall that recently Iranian President had gone on record when he said that Israel should be wiped of from the world map; the intentions are thus quite explicit. Further, it has been aiding the elements opposed to US both in Iraq and Afghanisthan. As shuch, India should prefer USA as against Iran; this, however, does not mean that Indian foreign policy be dictated by USA, we have well defined independent foreign policy and which is why we are talking to Iran. Some disgruntled BJP and Left Front leaders will always oppose government and let them continue do so.

These law makers of USA need to be answered firmly. I am sure that this letter does not necessarily reflect the policy of Bush administration. And if that happens to be the fact, we should be ready for temporary set back on nuclear deal, but I am sure US will show some wisdom in the matter and take the right decisions. After all we do not question them whey they maintain good relations with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia much against our interests at times.
