India should sign the nuclear deal. We need to develop nuclear energy. We need to remove extreme poverty from our country and should not live in false nationalistic pride. What the hell atomic bomb or hydrogen bomb do for a poor malnurished and illitrate society! Try to see things from bird's eye view- there is hardly any pride when we see chaotic,illitrate and malnurished people in every street.

And also do keep in mind, US is where it is after 200 of its independance, where as we are trying to reach there in just 50-55 years, so what ravi prakash say is right, still wehave long way to go. How can you achive something so easily what other has got in 200 yrs.
Also, it is no point in getting your peace as gift from someone, you have to earn your peace and you need to maintain it. Like Japan.

See here the point is not only test, because for war, even 1 KG of our present bomb is enough and world has seen that with JAPAN, the point is will you allow someone else to control your backbone or your economy.

Hey Man, who told you that poverty can be removed by singing this kind of Nuke deal. Don't you understand, there are many more reasons for poverty of India, then electricity. People of India will still remain poor even if you sign 10 such deals. Also, how much energy are we going to get out of this deal? Also, don't forget, our neighbours are very hostile, will not let us breathe if we blink eye, this is a fact based on historical incidences. So, do other things required to remove poverty, don't do things which will make India a virtual slave to USA and an easy target for neighbours.

Sir, Every one in this country would desire your wish, unfortunately, things are not so simple. Although we desire to pursue peace to attain prosperity for our people; other nations will not let us be. It has never happened in history and will never happen in future also. The only other country to pursue a similar ideal is the US, they have the isolation provided by the Oceans, but today they too are under siege.9/11 is a standing example. If we as a nation do not follow the compulsions of a nation state then it would be our fault if we do not secure peace simply believing in the goodness of others. If we want peace then we have to be prepared for war. This is a fact, harsh and bitter. The peace of a vassal state is illusory. It has not prevented the depredations of the ruling powers to weaken and exploit. We have a long way to go to build a self reliant and confident India, so we have to engage other nations keeping our national self interest paramount at all times.

What are you going to do with electricity when Pakistan or China nuclear bombs the hell out of our country ? Pakistan has not missed one chance to attack our country. They will go on developing nuclear weapons getting technology from China. China already has a 50 KT nuclear bomb and within the next 10-20 years they will be able to develop technology for two 100 KT bombs which launched simultaneously is more destructive than a 1 Megaton nuclear bomb. The reason why no country in the world has the guts to attack the US on its own soil is because they have hundreds of thousands of nuclear warheads - much more than any country - go to www.fas.org for more information. When you see the number of nukes they have, it will shake the ground below you.
My brother, even we want electricity and our country to be self-sufficient. We want to remove poverty and leave no child begging on the streets but history has shown that our hostile neighbours are looking at the slightest opportunity to attack and destroy our country - the only way to avoid this is by having a credible and tested nuclear deterrent. Our 10 -12 KT nuclear bomb has not even been tested !

Man it is not the question of bomb, what US is saying is, they will be monitoring your activity and for that India should grant the permission, so they can anytime visit any of the plant and inspect it, presently Indai dont have seperate plant for producing the enrgy and do the research on wepon, presently everything is together and india can not offord to give such permission to US official to inspect it plant. This is waht i feel the real issue is, i dont know if anybody have any more information on this, who are discussing on this board

Umesh Pandey .. dont forget the basics. India was not always poor... it is poor because people came and dominated us .... so dont be fooled by the ulterior motives ...safeguard ur interests ... hard work done by one self is any day better than the goodies shown by others ... there are usually caveats to that ...
