Take a break
by Nauman Ahmed on Feb 27, 2007 01:50 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Unlike hinduism which belongs to India and was originated in India. Islam was originated from Arab and you will find muslims almost every part of the world. I am sure Australia too would be having muslims from all over the world but still a person from Indian origin became the president. Those who think that Indians are lesser Muslims should take a notice and the credit goes to India where one can get best possible Islamic education.

I don't understand why rediff message boards are always full of hatered for muslims and why people start muslim bashing even when the article has got nothing to do with terrorism etc.

No matter what is being written about Muslims and Islam the fact is it is the fastest growing religion in US. Now would you blame spread of Islam on some barbaric muslim ruler who is forcefully making people to embrace Islam?
There was a news on TV 2 days back saying there is a surge for people learning Arabic in US and they are not finding enough teachers to fill the position.

I personally believe that no sane educated person who understands the reason behind middle east conflict and know history will be bashing muslims and making stupid comments every now and then.

Nauman,

Just a small clarifcation. Islam is not growing in United States. Please dont be under the impression that Islam is growing in US or western world.
Hinduism beats all other religious minorities in US. 50 million people in US follow the Hindu principles of Yoga and meditation. They say sacred Hindu chants and some of them even follow vegetarianism. Thus Hinduism beats Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Bahai, Confusianism and Scientologists COMBINED.

Are you saying all the people who are doing Yoga and meditation are Hindu? So all the people in the world who are doing Kung-fu/Karate are buddhist?
Come on wake up!!!

Sam,
this is called selective reading. What karthik implied was that Hindu philosophies and way of life is getting mainstream acceptance and being respected and recognized. Not literal meaning. How many non-muslims turn east and get on their knees?

Sam,
I am surprised at your peurile analogy. Kung-fu is not a Buddhist way of life as opposed to Yoga and meditation which are essentially Hindu way of life. Yoga starts with the chant of 'Om' invoking the lord (essentially a Hindu lord). So an overwhelming number of westerners are deeply influenced by Hinduism.
Further, please do not ignore the ISKCON movement. It is a movement by the westerners, for the westerners, and by far the most active evangelical organization in North America.
In a lighter vein, let me tell you that anybody who is a terrorist is not a Muslim by the same Karate analogy because terrorism is not an Islamic way of life.
I would welcome a healthy intellectual debate and a mere rant is not welcome.

you seem to suffer from amnesia, if not how would you forget being treated as a mohajir if you go to those places which you are claiming to be your illogical, barbaric and exclusionist nomadic-mindset-advocating faith. The reason why your faith is fastest growing is because you are still in medieval mindset of producing as senseless generation as yours without restraint. If it's fastest growing in US, so what? What is your point? And the reason why they are not able to find enough arabic speaking people is because all this time, it was useless in US and after 9/11 for intelligence capturing purposes, they are learning that language, not with admiration. No sane educated person understands the reason behind middle east conflict, because it's the problem with deep seated roots, and involved parties are full of hatred. Ask your shia brothers if your are a sunni or vice versa.
You are not remotely qualified to speak about Hinduism. Get that clear, first.

Swamiji, get your tone cleared out first. Nauman is trying to defend the stance on Islam not trying to offend hinduism. So, I don't see the reason for your seemingly passive aggression towards the religion. "The reason why your faith is fastest growing is because you are still in medieval mindset of producing as senseless generation as yours without restraint." - This sentence does not even make any logical sense. The reason why this religion is growing is because it frees people from the barriers of caste and inequalities, a principle on which this religion was formed in the first place. Please use your half baked ideas and jargon laden words where they apply. Let people defend their faith. Your contempt and negativity is equally detrimental to this country as fundamentalism itself

Awesome, I was expecting this from one of you guys. If you feel my comments are jargon laden, let me use simpler terms, as it is only justifiably clear that your thoughts are all occupied with religious stuff (however irrelevant and illogical they are) and not with logical reasoning. I don't have anything against you, or your faith system (however flawed it is), it is against people who are not nationalistic. How many times have you cheered when our neighbor(though a rotten one) won cricket matches? You lost the count right? I know. We have seen enough of your kind, opportunistic mentality folks. How nice to say,"the reason why this religion is growing is because it frees people from the barriers of caste and inequalities, a principle on which this religion was formed in the first place" -pseudo intellectual! Is that why you propagate wearing abaya? is that why educating females is barred? Is that why wahabbi was exported out of SA? Is that why expressing one's opinion is an equivalent to fatwa? Is that why there is a humongous amount of distrust among shia-sunni?
