It's always the misinterpretation of any preachings that is dangerous to the world rather than following someone's preachings. The word 'Jehad' was supposed to mean the fighting of evil thoughts in the mind rather than the meaning that we attribute to it today. Whatever was the kind of person Aurangzeb was, what we do not need is violence based on religion. I must say the political scene in the world has contributed in the same measure as a fanatic hardliner holding an important religious status preaching to kill the non-believers. I don't know what it takes to restore sanity and harmony!

prashanth you are absolutely right. jehaad must be fought against the eveil thoughts of mind. this is how we can get close to god. in sikhism their is on shabad "dhan jiyo teh ko jag mein mukh te har chit mein judh bichare" it means by chanting the name of god."mukh te har" chit mein judh bichare fought with evil thoughts. guru nanak says "mulla so jo man sayon lare" the true mulla is who fought with his man. god knows when they will understand this simple thing.
