There is nothing in that that explains the origin of Kannada. But about its beauty,s. Do'nt try to make circastic remarks indicating that Kannada is derived from Tamil. By this u can only fool urself. What is given in that art. is only similarity which ofcourse exists being neighbours. Read properly.
U seem 2 playing into views of Tamils who fantasize of being the oooldest language on earth. But sorry 2 say, Kannada is much more devoloped in all sence. What if central govt doesnt want 2 give Kannada status of classical language to please Tamils.

i apologise. i am not from AP. i am from North India but living in Hyderabad now. What is wrong with if I give Kannada's history. it has a proud history that is derived from Tamil. so we are all related.

Kumar, while I agree Kannad has a great history, but this doesnt mean we should all learn Kannad.
Why should anyone learn Kannad because they live in Bangalore. First of all, Bangalore is multi-cultural and one can survive in Hindi. If one can survive of Hindi then why learn any local language. Isnt that the idea behind 'national language'. There was a comment earlier saying that North Indians don't learn Kannad when in Bangalore, but if you know Hindi and I know Hindi, then there is no use for me to learn Kannad. I would never disrepect your language but there is no reason for me to learn it either. Why is Hindi taught as the third language of Karantak if you didnt need to know Hindi.

hey why should hindi be national language which is spoken by just 39 % of Indian population.. why shouldn't English be the communication language between different states and also in Indian government.. do u know that Karnataka accepted to have Hindi as third language whereas tamil nadu hates hindi and they don't allow any hindi related stuff to be pushed into their state

Mr UP, hindi is taught in kar bcos its our national language and not to facilitate guys like you who come here in search of jobs and better living. hindi is taught in kar schools and our culture teaches to speak kannada in karnataka. why r u staying in karnataka when kannada is not taught in ur state ??
its a shame that educated people from ur state migrate out instead of serving it. The result of this very evident today.

Mahesh and Yogesh, your posts indicate a clear indifference and repulsiveness to people from Northern India. You have your grievances due to demographic changes and imposition of segments of a culture. Let's remember that people in Northern India have been through tumultuous times against invasions of savage kind in the past from a particular religious group. They took the brunt of it and saved a large part of your ancient culture that you now call Kannad or Tamil or whatever it is. While doing this their ways have gone through drastic changes from rest of India due to the constant subjugations that followed the invasion. Respect them for it, instead of trying to digress them by queries of why they not stay in their states or whatever, and you must understand their any aggressive mindset or turmoil in their regions(UP and Bihar contributed richly to Indian culture more than any other region and look at their deprivation now) from Historic perspective, which in effect has given to regional chauvinism among those in southern India as a defensive mechanism. They will find a reason and you will find one to co-exist by sharing values which will help eachother in regaining the "lost" confidence. I hope you understand what i am trying to tell. Instead of being repulsive, forge bonds. They were not very different from you once. I am from south India too. Learn Hindi, it isn't a big deal. It will anyway revised slowly to include elements of other Indian languages to enrich itself.

Well, i don't live in Karnataka(now silly, will you assume i am from Tamil Nadu for posting in this forum that has to do with kar-TN and nothing about rest of India, so others should fukoff?). You guys are giving Karnataka a bad name with all these regional garbage. Don't get swayed by the sub-national spirit too much like the Dravidian movement of 1930's. It might disintegrate India. Others wouldn't tolerate such attitudes. You feel insecure about others barging into Karnataka, then you should do the same in other states. It will help in integrating India. Will reduce the regional chauvinism.

What is - U Bla..........y - BTW?

But I have seen ur hatredness towards karnataka from almost 3-4 days... posting nothing but narrow minded ideas against karnataka... answer a simple question.. is it fair to have 12 central ministers from a single state that too many of them from regional party... and the only state in India against Hindi and anti north india....

Ridiculous.Kannada is as old as Tamil and share the same origins called the Proto-Dravidian language. Please refer to sites in Internet like Wikipedia, etc and you'll find that originally it was called Proto-Tamil-Kannada also called Proto-Dravidian and eventually it these two languages branced out as independent languages.

These Tamils are acting big brother to Karnataka. They are just beliving their fantasies and trying to prove it with all manipulations. Kannada is independent in nature, origin. It has its own beautiful script neither derived from poor Dravidian script or Deavanagari. No other language has numbers in their script other than kannada. They either depend on Devanagari or Hindu Arabic. May be there r some similarities in vocabulary due to proximity. But the exchange is mutual. There r kannada influences also in Tamil. So Tamils, stop these created theories and do'nt make such propoganda and mislead the rest. Stop acting this big brother.
