Let Tamilnadu save water
by on Feb 05, 2007 08:51 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Tamilnadu has extensively mis used underground water, polluted major water sources like Koovam, do not do rain water harvesting and leave out lots of water to the sea (which could be saved in mettur dam) during the rainy season. Instead of expecting from karnataka to always save water for you, why dont you folks do something about it? We do not expect them to starve, at the same time it is not right to feed someone who are plain lazy.

Nice suggestion..But my dear friend..All the houses in TN are having this rain water harvesting..Further, TN is the only state in this country to have done that..

Koovam is not a river of good water..It is sewage water..Therefore the people in TN are not wasting the water...Please Understand the reality

Just a correction. Only houses in chennai are doing rain water harvesting. Saving water in houses is a very small deal, the big deal comes from when you can store water in lakes, tanks etc, diverting rain water to properly flow into the tanks..

Also, Koovam turns into sewage only after it comes near Chennai, it is a pure water source at the place where it originates (200kms from Chennai) Please remember that living started in Chennai (or chennarayapattinam)on the banks of this river (tributary).
