Quintessential Hindu character of the Indian nation
by Fried Yakov on Dec 28, 2007 11:40 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

This proves beyond doubt that Only and only a strong Hindutva in India would allow this country to continue to progess with a democratically elected government. Our neighbours (previously part of Akhand Bharat) who do not follow the Hindu principles of life and living have degenerated into a state of total anarchy and negativism. It is imperative for us all to vigorously support and promote Hindutva if we want peace and progress in our country. I do not know when the common man and the people in power realise this fundamental truth which even non- Hindus realise. The history of parsis and Jews in India provide ample proof how communities marginalised in their own land by radical faiths were nurtured in Hindu India and allowed to blossom to be able to reveal their true potential. I am blessed that my ancestors stayed on in this great land and never ever had to witness any holocast.

I agree with you Yakov. India is a great nation..and I am proud to be part of it. However what troubles me is the constant questioning of my patriotism as a muslim.I also understand that many undesirable incidents have happened in the name of respective "Gods" that neither Islam nor Hinduism permits or supports. But brandishing an entire community is not hte way to go. I can appreciate the "quitessential Hindu" character that encourages assimilation..something the progressive Indian muslim community leaders should learn and propogate within our society. In today's situation, I too am thankful that my forefathers chose to stay in India instead of migrating to a country based on hate and religious extremism.

Bilwal,
There is no doubt in the patriotism of Indian Muslims. But the problem is their confusion whether to follow principles of Islam (universal brotherhood) or be patriotic to a country. Those who choose the former becomes fundamentalist and do things dictated by maulvis. No education can change them. Many leaders in al-qaeda were educated in top schools like London School of Economics. The perpetrator of London terror Kafeel Ahmed was a doctor. The fundamentalist prefer to be in a ghetto. On the other hand the moderate Islamists are neglected and they have no choice but to align with the fundamentalist. Absence of their voice during Kashmir problem, Islamic terrorism activities on majority, attack on Taslima emboldens the mullahs and sends a wrong message to other communities. In short, Indian Muslims particularly moderates has to introspect and act accordingly. As a first step they should participate in appointing mullahs for populous mosques and carefully interpret the sermons. The same holds for the appointment of members in AIMPLB. If not the reputation of both Indian Muslims and Islam will be questioned and there is no solution for it.

Dont be troubled have faith every one is not bad just like every one is not good. We all have friends and non-friends.Every thing is normal unless we start blaming a community for a person's mistake. At the same time its hard for people to ignore a community when quite large portion of a particular community is involved in killings of innocent people.

Mr Bilawal,
In today's world, Indian Muslim is intellectually the most successful in Muslim world. Also, Indian Muslim is the most tolerant and progressive thinking. The Indian mass (Hindus, Christians, Sikhs etc.) would never discriminate or single out Indian Muslim community. Indian Muslims' success compared their Pakistani counterpart is it's indication. So, I don't think that somebody's comment or ignorant singling out should affect your patriotism. Your patriotism would help you yourself, if not others. At the same time, you should condemn anti-national elements and help your countrymen in singling them out an punishing them whether it be a Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or Christian.
